Love-Caution Ang Lee

Lust, Caution

Love-Caution Ang Lee

I began watching Lust Caution and paused it to watch the Terps-Virginia game.  Five minutes later I ditched the game and finished to movie.  That means 5 Stars right there.  The bad guys (guy, actually) here are Chinese collaboratists - e.g. Vichy govt in France; Moveon.org in the U.S. -  during Japan's occupation.  Has everything.  The violence is violent, the sex is steamy, the colors colorful and the story line cohesive.  Loved it. PS - ignore the language warning unless you speak Cantonese - English subtitled.

added it to my Netflix instant queue (gotta love Vieracast feature on the Panasonic bluray player). Will check it out tomorrow night.

A great flick... as well as another one directed by Ang Lee called "Eat Drink, Man, Woman". Or a recommendation by Ang Lee as one of his early inspirations - "The Virgin Spring" by Ingmar Bergman.

I am not technologically ignorant but, don't fully understand how the Netflix thru internet works. Supposedly I can run it thru my WII but, is there any way I can get this in HD? Just curious as I bought the HD TV for that purpose and if Netflix has no HD signal it really comes up wanting.

Bolivar - Go here for options. I settled on ROKU which is the best computer gadget I've ever used. I have never experienced even a hiccup while watching a film, and it's simplicity at its best. Also soon to be available -- HULU. Best part - you only need NetFlix basic service ($10/mo) to access it.

Bolivar: Not sure how it works in Wii, but with Vieracast you access Netflix, Amazon movies, and Youtube via online menus through the blu ray player.

You need to get over 5 mbs on you internet connection to get HD. A warning though, the signal compression used with Netflix online doesn't give you the greatest picture. Even their HD isn't really HD. When I watch via a DLP projector (100 inch screen), you can really see the difference. Plus, you don't get Dolby sound with instant (even in HD). If a movie is available in blu ray disk, get the disk and avoid the instant download.

Thanks Rodger and Hell is like newark - who woulda guessed that I could get such an education on here - shoulda known Rodg wouldn't let me down. I am in good hands here.

I have FIOS so the speed should be no issue but, the sound is a problem. I like surround and on some movies - Star Trek for instance it can make all the difference in the world. I have the DVD and go to the end credits where the play the ORIGINAL theme in variations and crank the surround.....talk about awesome - that makes my heart sing.

I am getting very tired of paying for HBO, Cinemax, Starz, Encore, Movie Channel and Showtime and seeing the same ol same ol AND supporting that commie rat bastid Maher. This might be my solution. I love movies and getting the series DVDs also is just icing on the cake. I could drop all the movies and still come out ahead.

Bolivar: Put a big old fashioned antenna on your roof and go with digital over the air TV. The picture is better than cable (its not compressed) and you get Dolby 5.1 sound.

I bought a stand a lone digital tuner from Amazon (they are not easy to find) so I can watch TV on the projector. At 720p the images are so good the cat watches TV with us (whenever a nature show is on.. particularly one than features birds).

Spoiler alert!

The problem I had with the movie was the fact that she went along with the assassination attempt but let the guy escape. This betrayed her cell and caused it to get captured. They all were tortured and killed because of her Lust.

I like early Ang Lee but the last of his flicks I really enjoyed was Ride with the Devil.
