Don't Ask; Don't Even Allow

DON'T ASK, DON'T TELL, DON'T
CALL OUR TROOPS HOMOPHOBES

Military combat is a very specialized field comparable to nothing in civilian life. There has to be a special bond among warriors -- and only one kind of bond. The soldierly bond gets confused if some guys think their comrades are hot or if they suspect their superior is having a relationship with a fellow soldier.
E COMPANY HOMO
In my view, objecting to gays in the military is not gay bashing anymore than objecting to unisex bathrooms would be.  Hell, I also see major problems with integrating women into ground combat - for somewhat different reasons that everyone here innately understands.

There is an elephant in the living room. Life is survivor island. People invariably break down into alliances/groups within the larger organization. Ultimately this is the cancer that destroys all bureaucracies, or at least makes them self-licking ice cream cones.

In the military, the upside of war is that the combat veteran experience tends to overwhelm other self-identifications, but in peacetime, and in the services that don't really share the rigors of war this doesn't happen. The old alliances are there. They aren't spoken of, but they are there. I assure you that the homos in uniform know each other at least within their services, and they help each other. It's the same with the racial and ethnic groups.

Of course the struggle of leadership is to minimize the negative aspects of this unspoken reality. Legitimizing perverts in uniform will poison the military in ways we can't even imagine.

Everyone, Rodge? Really?

Among my life's accomplishments, I deeply regret never having shot a Jihadi in service to my country. It's sad now that my working life is over, I'm too old to join the military. It would be a great honor to deploy as a sniper. Beats fighting the Zerg.

Life has many obstacles. Overcoming them is good for us. People who devote themselves to building more have some kind of mental illness.

"ties of great strength" is how Ernie Pyle described the bonds between fighting men in this well written essay: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1I7J026Dd7Am_ikq8KA6uatzjGc6Y_0_jmkHg6qdcOKE/edit?authkey=COXD6qMF&hl=en&pli=1#

Helly, I'm sure you're a wonderful thing, but I've yet to meet the woman who didn't need a keeper. Where's yours?

Casca's from down under where "keeper" means "life-partner."

In my units most were either "Dark Green Marines" from inner cities or "Light Green Marines" from mostly middle class working families. Neither of these groups views homosexuality favorably. Their aren't enough crap stirrers from San Francisco and New England to back fill the losses our military will suffer but that will be the reduction in forces the left has wanted for sometime now. If they can't defund it without upsetting the voters they will taint it to a point where no one will join.

1. I have proof that inclusion open gheys will not affect readiness:

Soldiers can deploy faster if their sh*t's already packed.

Helly, where's my sammich?
