Well I was reading an evaluation of the repeal of DADT that Obamabi signed off on. It looks like the Republicans may have done unto the Dems have been doing unto them. The bill has a fair amount of "must be dones" before it goes into effect. Studie must be presented, Critters must sign off on completed items. Stuff that if you boil it down looks like, "The committee chairman and the next highst ranking chairman WILL strip naked on the floor, paint themselves blue, kiss both elbows and run counter clockwise completely around the beltway." To whit this thing could well be up in the air until after 2012. Comeback Kid my arse.

SecDef reminded the usual suspects that DADT was still in effect despite the legislation signed by THE WON.

Won't this require a revision of the Code of Uniform Military Justice? Buggery is still illegal therein.

toadold,

Repeal of the Clinton/Powell DADT seems to have been a little political theater that hopefully will remind more than 51% of the population why we can not trust Democrats on defense. Having served in the Army in 80s and early 90s, I saw more people separated for heterosexual adultery than homosexuality. DADT pretty much codified what was in place: private behavior not prejudicial to good order an discipline is not scrutinized. Public behavior- or, under Obambi's revised policy, evangelical gays, have no place in the service.

And, as BG Mike states, the UCMJ has not been rewritten, so the real impact of this is just to really piss off a lot of warfighters just to curry favor to the Village People.

Ayup, a survey of the SOCOM boys show that they look at the situation "with grave disapproval."
They cost the most to train and retain. They have places they can go for more money.
As a side note: While there are not enough votes in the US Senate to convict on an impeachment, I'd trully love to see Sotomayer dragged in front of the House to answer questions and get impeached. It would be peachy and devistating in a political sense.

Al-Qaida is planning Christmas attacks in the U.S. and Europe. The U.S. government sprang into action and told al-Qaeda, “Hey, you cannot call them Christmas attacks, you have to call them holiday attacks."
