HOLY CRAP! I got a similar book from the '70s! If I find it, I'll share.

Oh yeah, my wife used to make stuff like that back in the late '70s.

If a boy's gonna get into crochet, he needs to make something semi-hetero ... like a shrinkage preventer.

Warning: Guurl Comment: I went to Nordstrom's t'other day. It all looked like that stuff. I left.

Ok -- I ran screaming and shuddering. There. Now ya know.

I kind of wonder how it would look on a model that was somewhat better endowed?

That book I was referring to had both crochet and macrame projects in it and must've been published around 1972 or close to it. There were woman's and men's hand bags and hats, full blown hippie wardrobes, pottery hangers, jewelry and accessories, etc.

MoFiZiX, I think everyone had that in the 70s... required reading.

Because that yarn was synthetic, all those 70's macrame and crochet projects still exist and will be here when aliens investigate the uninhabited ruins of Earth a million years from now.

I frequently see it at yard sales and flea markets, looking pretty much as good as it did new- FWIW.

I always hoped I'd see something special through the holes.

Found myself just now doing the same thing!

They mispelled crotches.

Actually,
the more I think about it,
the more I like loose macrame,
but without the undergarments.

Thanks, MsMelissa.

What the hell is that appendage looking thing hanging down at the center hem of the red dress? Did she crochet herself a dildo or is that one of DougM's Shrinkage Preventers?

When I was a wee lad I got salt water in my veins and I learned knots and fancy ropework from a salty old tar. Part of what I learned is actually crochet work, only I didn't know it as that. I learned it with names such as chain sennits, monkey chains, running stitches, plaits, hitches, etc.

If you can crochet a dress you can crochet a boat fender. If you can crochet a doiley you can crochet a deck mat. The cordage is different but the stitches are the same.

Check the Ashley Book of Knots.
