The due date for filing a tax return can be extended for six months to October 15 using form 4868. Just try not paying. Penalties and interest start on April 16.

Oh buy the way you can forget about getting one of those advance payments on your tax return. Some how they became "predatory" and wsree forbidden by the Dims. Turbo tax will let you do your filing and then hold it for you until the the IRS says it is ready, but that is it.
If you've been screwed over by medical co-pays and perscription copays and have had yur savings wiped out....BOHICA! -

I don't like the smell of this ... at all.
This may be an excuse to delay refunds (see: hostage) and to cover the Fed's financial disaster (see: fudge the books).
They might also take the CA approach and issue refunds in the form of IOUs and scrip.
