Cap and Trade blah-blah-bah

Senators vow to strip Obama climate power
Be Still My Heart

"My bill will shrink Washington's job-crushing agenda and grow America's economy," said Senator John Barrasso, a Republican from Wyoming and skeptic of climate change who is leading the effort.

"I will do whatever it takes to ensure that Washington doesn't impose cap-and-trade policies in any form."

[...]

The Obama administration counters that a shift to green energy would help both the planet and the economy by creating a new source of high-paying jobs.  [...]

I'm taken aback by Brietbart's use of "skeptic of climate change" to describe Barrasso.  It's  like calling me a "Holocaust Denier" skeptic.  Has any Liberal initiative ever been so thoroughly debunked as man-caused climate change?  I'm surprised Alinsky's Rules For Radicals doesn't  include:
  • #13 When the enemy factually proves you lied, ignore it as though it never happened. The tactic will drive the enemy crazy, and give your media allies a pivot point to keep control of the argument.
If you analyze the left's argument for funding manufactured crises (the asbestos scam is a good example) - that it creates new sources of high-paying jobs - you'll see "redistribution of your wealth."

"Global Warming/Climate Change" is a scam.

Asbestosis and mesothelioma are very, very real. Come by my office. I'll show you some x-rays and radiology reports.

Chuck M.:
What kind of exposure to asbestos does it seem is enough to make it likely that one would get mesothelioma? Or is it genetically programmed?

A one time exposure generally won't do it. It generally takes a prolonged exposure to significant amounts of airborne dust.

You generally see it in people who mined materials containing asbestos, processed the material, or installed the material. If you worked in one of those industries for a few months, there is a high possibility that you may have a critical exposure to asbestos.

A good example is vermiculite mined in Libby, Montana. Libby vermiculite is contaminated w/ asbestos. W.R. Grace engineers and execs knew it was contaminated when they started selling the "popped" vermiculite as insulation. As a consequence, numerous older homes and now-abandoned factories are contaminated with asbestos.

Ask the residents of Libby, Montana if asbestosis and mesothelioma is a "scam".

Back when I was bulletproof and immortal, kids used to smear mercury on dimes and quarters to make ‘em shiny. Next day, of course, the surface had become dimmed by the top layers’ having become oxidized, so another fresh mercury coating had to be applied.

When I became a teenager, still impervious to everything except Kryptonite, my friends and I would wrap asbestos around leaking mufflers and tailpipes to keep the sheriff and his minions off our butts.

I began smoking around 1954 or 55 and got really good at it by the time I retired from the Navy in 1984. I drank too much, ate the wrong foods, hung around in smoky bars and on Navy ships, went through shipyard assignments where the air was full of particles and dust and gases and fumes from who-the-hell-knows where.

Today, tho, I can’t eat meat and have to take 80mg Lipitor to keep my cholesterol under control ‘cause my LDL/HDL ratio is inverted, and the bad stuff wants desperately to coat the insides of my pipes and shut down my main circ pump.

But, I’m now 70 and still walkin around with this nasty habit of breathin. Yeah, genetic predisposition is a pretty safe assumption.

Chuck, I in no way meant to imply that asbestos, like lead, coal dust, etc. can lead to disability and death. I referred to the issue being used by the tort lawyers and politicians to remove asbestos from every home, building and outhouse, at a cost to the owners of $billions of dollars. You can stand aside any concrete highway and be exposed to more asbestos then school kids ever received from attending class in old school houses. That was the scam.

One more crime. Asbestos tort lawyering allowed Peter Angelos to scam enough money to buy the Baltimore Orioles and destry one of the great franchises in American sports.

Boco, I'm glad you don't have asbestosis or mesothelioma.

Rodg, I'm equally glad that my house (1941) and my parents' house (1888) don't have vermiculite insulation. The hard question to answer is what to do with the buildings insulated w/ Zonolite™ when it's time to tear them down or significantly renovate them.

The financial cost of containing the vermiculite/asbestos dust will be high.

And then, the perjury and contempt trials.

The folks who sold the builders and homeowners the vermiculite had no clue it was dangerous.

Tear the homes down and bury the stuff. If a mineral causes problems, put it back in the ground.

"Has any Liberal initiative ever been so thoroughly debunked as man-caused climate change..." well it hasn't actually been debunked, but then again, it hasn't been proven yet. That's the big problem, I think... they are (were, hopefully) trying to push through a series of solutions to a problem that we don't know if it was actually a problem. If 99% of the input of the global warming were due to sunspots, it is pretty useless to hope that carbon certificates can help raise the remaining 1% (or the minimal portion of that 1% that can actually be improved... if of improvement one can hope) to a level that influences the other 99.
But no one understands yet if the AGW is 90% external or 10% external, and they don't care, if they can earn something by claiming it is 99% human influenced (isn't that the real meaning of egocentric?).

Alinski-Chomsky have been VERY successful with AMERICAN CONSERVATIVES!!!

You are bashing "liberals", aren't you? Capitalists are called "liberals" with the rest of humanity.

Republican-conservative states are called "Red States", just like Mao's "red Army"

"They" are naming themselves the blue states
(The seaboards states that Goldwater advocated sawing off)
while the "Big Blue Machines"
always meant conservative parties
for the rest of civilized world!

You guys have to quit "crossing the aisle" and stop playing by Alinski-Chomsky's rules!

And asbestos is just as harmless as silicates! Those that got cancer where working in asbestos dust
refusing to wear breathing apparatus until their lungs where filled with asbestos wool...
you'd get cancer from road dust in the same conditions, like cowboys commonly did.

Where I came from, ALL children played with asbestos woolly rocks
and NOBODY ever got cancer.

Asbestos is just part of the trial lawyers racket...the base of Alphonse Goregast's religion.

Wabano, you do know that the "red state for Conservatives" "blue state for liberals" titles were labeled by the media during the 2000 elections. If you look at election history you will find that red was assigned to Clinton during his elections. At one point the colors switched back and forth depending on the election cycle.
At one point liberalism meant freedom, but the progressives took that over and turned it into a leftist movement.
