Yeah, she's right.

I listed to a whole office of people bleeting on about how bad the nuclear disaster was.

What? Excuse me.... TSUNAMI? and to date the nuclear plants in Japan killed how many people? Get your heads out of your collective asses people.

Even FOX News is doing it. They're yammering on and on about the nuclear thing which to date has killed no one and isn't likely to. To their credit, they do occasionally point this out and that the past "disasters" weren't as bad as everyone seems to assume; but they still can't shut up about it. Just like the rest of the Media, they would rather speculate endlessly about what might happen than report on what is actually going on.

If all 55 of Japan's Nuclear reactors suffered a catastrophic meltdown the death toll still wouldn't hold a candle to the tsunami.

Hysteria apparently sells! And bottom line, the bottom line is all they care about. Truth, justice, lack of bias? All fall by the wayside in the eyes of the Asshat Media!

The Soviet didn't care about their people?

You think Japanese bureaucrats care? ANY BUREAUCRAT?

They dont even have diesel back up power plants!

Some people care, all the helicopter pilots died in Chernobyl,
without their sacrifice, millions could have died.

I doubt the emasculated people of the Japanese government would follow suit

THEY ARE DOING NOTHING

They have a whole fleet of Shin Meywa
(four engine water bomber flying boats based on the Twin engine Martin Mariner)...

You seen one yet?

WTF? Wabano whatever you're smoking must be good.

The diesel backups worked just fine. Only there was a small problem. TSUNAMI! You know, a massive tide of of water that swept through everything in its path? So yeah, the diesel backs failed in some of the plants

But the battery backups didn't.

Nor did the containment vessels

Nor did the scramming of the reactors after the earthquake hit

Nor did the other backups to the backups they had and used after the batteries went flat.

Stop reacting to the hype and take the time to learn something. Ignorance is curable.

You're right, pdw, I don't know how much good watering down the outside of the containment vessels would do when the problem is inside them.

Anonymous @ 4:29 - I love Ann too. She could have my children for all I know.

The point is Japanese bureaucracy is as competent as the one in the White House...Headlines:

"Japanese buildings are impervious to earthquakes...Power Stations impervious to Tsunamis...after Kobe and Indonesia...

THEN:

No home. No help. No hope:
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/asia/no-home-no-help-no-hope-now-japans-despair-turns-to-anger-2244153.html

"Meanwhile, in the first sign that international frustration at the Japanese government's reticence on
the status of the stricken Fukushima power plant has reached a critical moment, the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency issued a
thinly-veiled rebuke to Prime Minister Naoto Kan's administration. "

Sound like you would even excuse Dr. Shiro Ishii, the Emperor and Mac Arthur...
