In Oakland, a man has been consistantly been sweeping the street and sidewalk in front of his home about twice a year for the last 6 years. Suddenly, Oakland needs street sweepers in that area, and will ticket you with a $65 fine for parking in front of your own home while they do the much NOT needed street sweeping.
Many more stories here on Whistleblower Wednesday.

http://www.delawareonline.com/article/20110329/NEWS/103290336/State-police-investigating-hoop-incident?odyssey=tab%7Cmostpopular%7Ctext%7CFRONTPAGE

The officer, the blonde lady that lied, is under IA investigation and thier state Rep is looking to have both the pole returned and a later fine against them dropped. Still, as we say in Texas, "that's Bullshit."

That was no lady, and I bet she wasn't even a real blonde.

You actually believe the police have to tell you the truth? Under no circumstance do police ever have to tell you the truth.
This is also why many places have outlawed the recording of police officers.

Here in the people's Republik of Kalifornia we and several neighbors in our small cul-de-sac used to have portable basketball hoops in front of our house. All of us had them on the sidewalk in front of our houses. The neighborhood kids would pretty much play a moving basketball game that shifted from hoop to hoop up and down the block. Then one day we all got notices that we had to remove them because they were blocking the sidewalks.

After several rounds of warnings and letters and phone calls we finally found out that the complaints about the hoops were from a grandmother who lived several blocks away and liked to take her grandchildren on afternoon walks around our neighborhood but didn't like having to walk around the hoops.

We found a couple sympathetic folks who lived next to "Grandma." They had hoops set up in their driveways. So all our kids started going over there to play. This large influx of kids into the area resulted in her flowers being trampled, grass stomped on, and a lot of noise during times of the day that she didn't like.

Also several neighbors chained their loud, aggressive dogs in their front yards so that they could almost reach the front sidewalk. Suddenly our quiet little street wasn't so nice a place to walk.

It took several weeks of being shunned by all her neighbors, living with the noise and chaos on her street and being scared to walk on ours she called the city to withdraw her complaints. The "code enforcement officer" told her it was no longer up to her. Now that they were aware of the problem they would continue to cite anyone who blocked the sidewalk.

It took an election, a new city administrator, two new council men and a drive to have the code enforcement officer fired before we were allowed to put our hoops back out front, the dogs back into the back yards and the kids back onto their own street.

Two things come to mind, one, never take a civil servant lackey at their word, two, well, I think I hear the loading press calling ...

OK, help me out here. I'm a generally law abiding person who supports my local sheriff and all that crapola. I can understand an undercover orificer being allowed to lie about his actual employment inasmuch as the truth there could get a circumcision at the neck line.

But somebody please esplain to me why the po-leases can lie to me but I can't lie to the po-leases. In other words, how can I delegate to the gubmint a right that I don't myself possess?

Did anyone read the comments left on the DelawareOnline article.
Very disturbing amount of
"it's the law shut up and obey it"
"who wants those aggravating children being allowed to play in the street"
"oh those people are so trashy, fine them and make them shut up."
"what's the big deal it's a basketball hoop."
I guess it is running about 50/50 pro con.
I find it very disheartening and disturbing. I'm starting to get the feeling we are getting the government that the people want and I don't see a way out at the polling booth. Their representatives are representing them. The problem is liberty is being thrown by the wayside for government policy based on pet peeves. They are willing to make the trade and we all get dragged along.

Look at Delaware's congressional delegation. 50-50 is about good as it gets there.

Welcome to the Obamanation.

White folk in the 'burbs aren't allowed to have basketball courts.
Yet we spend billions of tax dollars so inner city kids can deal drugs on their new basketball courts.
