A Cry in the Dark

Can We Prevent a Second Civil War?
Future Obama Cabinet Member
There are three issues that could presently trigger a Civil War in America:

    * Illegal aliens. A government that refuses to protect our borders, the methodical structure of citizenship, and the rule of law, will only be tolerated for so long. America is reaching a tipping point on this issue.

    * Abortion. Irreconcilable differences here. This may likely become as potent an issue as slavery was in the 1860s.

    * The right to keep and bear arms - see "2A Today for The USA"

No other significant present day problems could potentially result in the “brother against brother” tragedy of a Second American Civil War.

I can only disagree with the author when he says " No other significant present day problems could potentially result in the “brother against brother” tragedy of a Second American Civil War. "

A great depression, currently looming, is I think the greatest danger.  It's here that people turn to radical ideas (like communism is the answer). A widespread realization that our government is responsible for what's happened to us, and that government was in fact fraudulently installed, and unresponsive to the expressed will of the people (can you say Obamacare) is also in play.  If civil war comes, there will be no declaration; there will be explosions. The powder will contain elements of all these frustrations, and the spark can be damned near anything.  Here (again) are the only options to civil war that exist, as I see the situation.

  1. Military coup
  2. The pressure relief valve of secession of several states from the union
  3. The pressure relief valve of expulsion of several blue states from the union
  4. A cataclysmic event that leaves people no time for anything but scratching out a daily sustenance.
  5. The sudden accidental death of every elected democrat, Hollywooder, news reporter, leftist educator, plus George Soros.
  6. The sudden accidental death of every decent American, leaving the field to THEM.
I prefer # 3.

Sorry, I disagree. Being able to care for your family is the Prime Directive. If you can't care for them, things will get wonky quickly. This may or may not involve firearms and deaths. I hope not. But I prepare as if it will...

Is that a statement???

A couple of days ago, my wife asked what the military would do if there actually was a civil war against the people running our government, such as it is. Would they side with the people? Would they fire on the people? Would they fire on the government "leaders"?

I didn't, and still don't, know what to tell her. And, I have to agree with Anonymous above. I prefer #5.

There are historians (see Crane Brinton "The Anatomy of Revolution") that see the Northern Aggression Against the South (NAAS) in the 1860's as an aborted revolution. Thus we are in the Second Republic. In the NAAS the military split between the Agressors and the peaceful citizens of the South.
I prefer #5.

I agree #5 is a most happy solution. The sudden demise of all those who fight a never ending battle against truth, justice and the American way.
...God willing, of course.

Scottiebill,

There are many of us who swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution. We knew what that meant; we meant it then, and we mean it now.

What do you mean Fred? Are you going to shoot the citizens or are you going to defend the Constitution? Your answer was kind of cryptic.

Who says the civil war has to be citizen against citizen? Why would it not be the people of the states against the federal monster? There is your fight, that was the result of the last civil war, it would simply be the undoing of Mr. Lincolns monster. The federal power is largely fictitious. It is made up of the will of the people of the states. Do any of you have a Washington DC drivers license?

Step one, take the IRS into the states possession. Fund them only what is agreed on by state legislatures since our federal reps have long since stopped representing us. The dollar is about to crash, that is the money of the federal monster. Have the states start printing their money, it would force a balanced budget. The fed would be DOA.-Anymouse

Well the oath of service has what could become two contradictory parts. In one part ...I swear to defend the Constitution against all enemies, both foreign and domestic.. and to obey the orders of the chain of command to with the President as Commander in Chief of all the armed services. Now if the CIC starts tearing down the constitution then it could be said that following his orders to tear the Constitution down would be an illegal order. If you follow an ordr that you know to be illegal you can be prosecuted. "I was just following orders, only works for Europeans."

Our nation is on a steady path directly OPPOSITE that which our Founding Fathers intended , and if it is to survive at some point it will have to be RESET . For our elected officials to not even attempt to secure our borders , and go after those who ask them to do so , is criminal , and I would gladly operate the gallows to hang the TREASONOUS SONS OF BITCHES ! Keeping the powder dry here Boss ! SMIBSID

#5 would be wonderful.

Fred Jameson, smooches to you honey!
My fear regarding the military lies in the new guard who do not understand the import of protecting our Constitution (before it is completely shredded and destroyed). A friend of my son's is in the Army and he voted for Obama because he believed the great promiser would not send him to A-stan.
Guess where the young man is as I type?
Some of them have been indoctrinated enough by the public school system, unfortunately.

My oldest is a second Lt, with the 189th Cav, 10 Mountain Division, out of Ft. Drum NY. Trust me, the officer corps, at least the ones who aren't politicians, the ones that directly command troops, don't think much of Obama. I heard a Colonel at his Recon graduation ask the class to not complain openly about the Commander in Chief! I don't think most of 'em will be obeying illegal orders or firing on civilians. Gives me a glimmer of hope for the future.

Anon, thank you for that reminder. With the US troops, that is a comfort, between your statement and that of Fred Jameson. On a local level, we are on our own. I look at most of our Sheriff's Officers here and realize that they truly ARE no help, unless someone is directly threatened and they catch them in the act. Given they have a minimum of a 45 minute response time out here, I am truly grateful for the Castle Doctrine in Texas!
