WOOT-WOO

I just uninstalled Firefox 4.01; reinstalled Firefox 3.6,  and Voila!  I am able to P/W into Blogger again.

Firefox 4.xx crashes on my Ubuntu setup, but I'm not skilled enough on Linux to figure out how to revert to an earlier version. So, I'm back to my favorite browser, Opera, which now has add-ons like Firefox and is (IMO) a better browser.

Here's the 3.6 download page.

Firefox 4.1 will go down in history as the worst POS since WWII online. Yesterday, they released Firefox 5 beta, and so far it's much much better. I'm willing to give it its day in court.

They just now are announcing a tornado watch in central Ohio. Gerard has just put up a tribute to Leonard Cohen. Those are related events, in a Cohenesque way.

Thanks. I am not liking FF4.01 at all either. It is constantly taking over my old and slow PC to do something with its files. Takes forever. No. Not allowed. Go away.

Funny, but after removing all the old Firefox files along with 4.0, this 3.6 is humming better than ever.

OMG, I can't believe it took you that long. A month ago, I installed 4.0 and switched back to 3.6.17 within 24 hours of realizing it was massive POS.

I've been running 4.0.1 on several different XP computers and have not encountered any problems - other than the re-arranged menu items (such as Open Link In New Tab/New Window...the A$$Holes!!!). I once tried out an older version of Opera which I thought was pretty good, but stuck with Firefox. I have Chrome, but think it is a bit weird. Maybe I will try Opera again......

Rodger, thanks for the link. I tore out 4.01, deleted all the files and registry entries, and then put 3.6.17 in. Runs great.

4.01 requires a much better PC than 3.x did. If you aren't running at least a Pentium 4 and half a gig of RAM, forget it. The new code uses the parallel processing powers that the new chips have, but on old machines without that kind of power it runs slower than death.

Compare: FF4 requirements vs FF3 requirements.

It's why we win Drew!

Yup. FF 4.x runs fine on my quad-core machines.

I think this is still a programming fail. Programmers failed to take the numbwer of legacy machines still running into account.

Bad alpha testing. All programs work correctly right from the programmer's PC ... provided you have a PC exactly the same as the programmers.

Proper alpha testing requires testing on all usual user machines.
