Al Gore off the Cliff

Part Two of The best article ever writ about the pied piper of the truly stupid.
Al Gore's Green Bridge To Nowhere

It is a measure of how far Gore has fallen that almost all the scanty attention the piece received focused on Gore’s criticism of what he sees as President Obama’s failure to lead on climate change.  Gore, like the global green movement he champions, has fallen by the wayside.  Despite terrible weather, despite tornadoes, droughts, food crises and high oil prices, the world conversation has moved on.  The question is why.

Once the political power of the climate movement, aided by an indulgent and largely unquestioning press, had pushed the climate agenda into the realm of serious politics, failure was inevitable.  The only question was whether the comprehensive green meltdown would occur before or after the movement achieved its core political goal of a comprehensive and binding global agreement on greenhouse gasses.

The real tragedy is that these liars have given the entire conservation movement a black eye, and wasted valuable time and money on this chimera. The oceans are still vulnerable, China and other countries are still polluting away, and now every reasonable proposal for maintaining our environment (planting trees, groundwater conservation, etc.) are going to be compared to idiots like Greenpeace and the Earth Liberation Front.

Oh, the hell with it. Pass the leatherback turtle steak, and I'll have some more of that shark fin soup. Al's four kids can figure it out.
