Mmmmmm- Pig fat

Did a pork-coated bullet kill Bin Laden?
Seems so

LOL Military cartridges use pig fat lubricants.
I do see potential for a replay of history here. When the  Brits, in 1857 India, issued gunpowder cartridges that were believed to be greased with cow or pig fat, which insulted both Hindus and Muslims, rioting ensued among the Sepoy (Indian  regiments).  Let's hope that Muslims don't do the same here, as unusual as that would be.  Ahem. But, if they do, a workable solution may be found in that history.

Vengeance was swift and harsh: suspected mutineers were tied to cannons and executed.

Once the revolt was under way, the same Hindu and Moslem clerics that stirred up the Mutiny gave the mutineers an indulgence to use those same cartridges to shoot at the British.

If we started using pig fat on cartridges, the Mullahs will just declare some special exemption for Jihadists ... cults don't have to make sense, the just require suspension of disbelief by the cultists.

Phony story, everyone uses CLP (cleaner, lubricant, penetrant). Civilian market is Breakfree. It's used by everyone on every kind of weapon.

"...a soldier or marine could theoretically purchase the oil on his or her own and use it on the battlefield.'"

If so, GOOD!

lol, but doubt it. If you already had an exceptional product in plentiful supply, would you go buy something nobody has ever heard of? Hell, there's bacon in the chow hall too if you need some grease.

Fact is, if a Muslim is forced to eat pork he's forgiven. However, most of the rank and file don't know that.

Can't remember the name of the current-issue CLP, but it's not BreakFree anymore; it's some 'enviromentally friendly' stuff that son advises me sucks. He went out and bought a bottle of Hoppe's #9 for cleaning his bolt & carrier.
