    Balthus (Balthasar Klossowski de Rola)

Girl with a Cat, 1937, oil on canvas, 88.0 x 78.0 cm, private collection.

The Polish-French artist Balthasar Klossowski de Rola is best known as Balthus. He was an esteemed but controversial modern painter. Throughout his career Balthus rejected the usual conventions of the art world. He insisted that his paintings should be seen and not read about, and he resisted any attempts made to build his biographical profile. His paintings often depicted young girls in erotic and voyeuristic poses which always caused controversy.

Things don't change. I noticed over on the Drudge Report that Vogue had a ten year old girl in a seductive pose on their cover that is causing a lot of hostile comment.
Don't it just make you really tired sometimes?
