“ Dr. Ivar Giaever, a former professor with Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the 1973 winner of the Nobel Prize in physics, abruptly announced his resignation Tuesday, Sept. 13, from the premier physics society in disgust over its officially stated policy that "global warming is occurring."

The official position of the American Physical Society (APS) supports the theory that man's actions have inexorably led to the warming of the planet, through increased emissions of carbon dioxide.

The consensus is clear. Falsification of global warming is occurring. The evidence is incontrovertible. The debate is over.

Was it over when Copernicus overthrew the Earth-centrists?
Was it over when Einstein overthrew Newton?
Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

That points out the real question here, Doug: Is Global Warming a scientific problem or a religious one? It is never over for religious zealots, facts be damned.

Ya know, on this whole "Science is settled" thang? Some jamoke around 1910 was saying "why study physics? It's all Newtonian, there's nothing left to learn." Then along comes E=mc² and Schrödinger and Heisenberg and the rest of the 20th century.

Nice equations, great predictors. But then they say, c, the speed of light, is fastest thing in the universe. I don't believe that. I can't prove them wrong of course, but keep your eyes on the quantum mechanics boyos.

I'd bet good money that within my lifetime that piece of settled science is going out the window.

Anthropogenic Global Warming is about as likely as Anthropogenic Plate Tectonics.

Look back a half million years, and that hockey stick looks pretty damned silly.
