He's getting desperate. He's nervous that the Holder and Solyndra investigation will eventually find their way to his personal involvement. This will definitely bring the possibility of impeachment. Civil unrest will give him some power to abuse the military, which will not follow him. He's toast and his days in power are numbered.

I don't see how a President of the US can declare martial law. There are these pesky governors who cherish the bit of power they still maintain.

The President can declare martial law in times of insurrection. His problem is that the insurrection will not be law abiding citizens.
Siding with the protesters is one of the worst political decisions he's made. His only hope of a second term was with the support of the swing voters. He lost them with this.
When Holder is removed from office, Obama's days will be filled with answering questions about his involvement. He's like Nixon. There's no place to go and the trap is closing. -

Holder will NEVER be removed from office. He's a Democrat. Look for him to announce his recognition in order to run Obama's reelection campaign, or maybe just announce that he won't serve in the second Obama Administration in order to spend more time with his family. Bets?
