Maryland? Don't make me cry. .

Huh?

USPS Approved

Next month, the Illinois House could revisit House Bill 148, seeking to bring the state in line with all 49 others with a law giving citizens some form of concealed possession of a handgun.
[Legislators prepare for potential concealed carry vote]
I just checked my mail box for news that Maryland residents could get a carry permit.  Nothing there.

I was born in St. Mary's Hospital in East St. Louis, Illinois 54 years ago - and was perhaps the last lilly white infant birthed there.

We moved to the old South in 1963.

I lived in an adjoining industrial town briefly in the early 1980s and haven't returned.

But I follow Illinois (I even remember getting recon from Kim du Toit when he lived there around 10 years ago).

I will believe the State of Illinois acknowledgements of its citizens 2A rights when I see it.

As I understand it now, they have to get a Firearms Ownder ID card (FOID) to even own a gun.

It is fitting that Obama is an Illinois homie (after moving from Kenya to Hawaii to NY to Boston, etc).

To me Illinois is like another country.

The city of East St. Louis changed the name of the hospital where I was born (apparently the mother of Jesus was inadequate) and it is now named after Illinois' first black state senator or some other such dignatary.

Too bad guns aren't mentioned in the bill of rights like abortion.

There is a better chance that Christina Hendricks will knock on your door and ask you to hold the ladder while she paints the ceiling in a black silk teddy than there is that the MD State Police will issue you a carry permit.

Kenneth Hall hospital, formerly St. Mary's of ESL, is now closed, ML28.
And that whole area is looking more and more like Beirut.
