Some statistical changes from the end of George W. Bush’s presidential term when Obama “took” office to August 31, 2011--
A gallon of regular gasoline on Obama’s inauguration day was $1.79 on average in the U.S.-- At the end of August 2011 that price was $3.59, a 100.6% increase.
The number of food stamp recipients rose from 31,983,716 to 43,200,878, a 35.1% jump.
Long-term unemployment soared 146.2% from 2.6 million to 6.4. Total unemployment (short-term and long-term) jumped almost 25% from 11.6 mil to 14.4 mil while black unemployment rose from 12.6% to 15.8%, a 25.4% increase, essentially the same as the population at large.
The number of American citizens living in poverty rose 9.5% from 39.8 million to 43.6 million.
And finally, our national debt was up 34.4% from 10.627 trillion to 14.278 trillion.
