Aliens may destroy humanity to protect other civilisations from Climate Deniers

I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP
Aliens may destroy humanity to protect other civilisations from climate deniers

Actual Guardian Story

It may not rank as the most compelling reason to curb greenhouse gases, but reducing our emissions might just save humanity from a pre-emptive alien attack, scientists claim.

Watching from afar, extraterrestrial beings might view changes in Earth's atmosphere as symptomatic of a civilisation growing out of control – and take drastic action to keep us from becoming a more serious threat, the researchers explain.

This highly speculative scenario is one of several described by scientists at Nasa and Pennsylvania State University that, while considered unlikely, they say could play out were humans and alien life to make contact at some point in the future.[PROOF that I am not making this up]

I'm passing this baton to Anthony Watts.

Debbie Wasserman Speaks

We need a little unity in America
right now, and that’s what Democrats
                                                     have been committed to under
                                                   President Obama's leadership.

Ron Paul attack ad

Did someone call Ron Paul supporters "nut cases?"

An Austin Ron Paul supporter has taken out a full-page ad in the local alt weekly newspaper seeking any "stripper ... escort ... or 'young hottie'" who has slept with Rick Perry, part of his single-minded jihad against the presidential candidate.

Robert Morrow describes himself as a "self-employed investor and political activist" as well as a three-time delegate to the Texas state GOP convention. [Full]

Perry Attack Ad
This reeks of  Debbie Wasserman Test, or Moveon.org, or CBS, but no. It's a Ron Paul supporter.  Millions of Americans confuse Libertarians with Lyndon LaRouche, and I can see why.

A vacation by any other name ...

Obama has taken 61 days of vacation so far ...”
CBS anchor Scott Pelley

Another "trip"

Which is all total bathwater.  Don’t know where they got their numbers (Dan Rather?), but they’re wrong.    All total, Barack Obama has spent more than 400 days on some type of absence from Washington.  Sometimes calling them “trips”, or “visits”, in our neck of the woods we call them vacation days.  Obama and the MSM are good at excusing Obama as they are now by calling his present absence a bus tour.  It’s a campaign tour, period.  Additionally he’s played 57 rounds of golf since taking office (29 of them in 2010) and gone on 28 basketball outings (20 of those coming in 2010)

In fact he’s spent more than half his time as President outside of Washington on various “tours”.   Additionally C-BS isn’t counting the 35 days Obama has spent at Camp David, whereas Bush’s Ranch was actually considered a working vacation with his staff. [C-BS Get’s Obama’s Vacation Days Wrong]

By the sheerest happenstance we ate dinner last night watching CBS Evening News (the last channel Mo-Sup watched). As usual when such insults occur,  I watched slack-jawed; applesauce and porkchop drool cascading, as Pelley droned on about the vacation kerfluffle. About how Obama had only taken taken just 61 vacation days after 31 months in office  (while Bush and Reagan took about 10,000).

This was misdirection by Pelley,  so he wouldn't have to talk about what a complete muck we're mired in.  Still, it was a challenge.  I knew Pelley's figures were wrong for two reasons— 1) This was CBS; 2) the numbers did not comport at all with my sense of things.  I mumbled something about "what they call vacations?" and "why in hell do you even watch CBS?" to MoSup (who  responded "IT WAS ON THAT CHANNEL! WHY DIDN'T YOU CHANGE IT!?").

I'll take this guy MacRanger's data at face value,  because it at least sounds reasonable, and somewhat researched. And, unlike everyone mimicking Pelley's numbers today, I have no reason to think MacRanger is filthy liar. In fact, I'm pretty sure he is not. Point-Set-Match!

Surprise. He Lied.

Rep. Joe Wilson 'YOU LIE!'YOU LIE

“You lie!” Republican Rep. Joe Wilson famously shouted at President Obama during a 2009 televised presidential address to a joint session of Congress.

The outburst, prompted by Obama pledging his health care reform bill would not benefit illegal immigrants, provoked outrage from liberals, not to mention a steely death-glare from then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. [Full]
Rep. Joe Wilson 'YOU LIE!'

It's still hard to believe anyone doubted the truth of Wilson's charge. If Obama's a Democrat, Obama's a liar. |  If you're used to watching C-Span's coverage of Parliament (House of Commons), you may even have been inured to impoliticness of it all.  The look on Pelosi's face was just precious; it's a wonder she finished her stint as Speaker without being caned. Comeuppance is a wonderful thing.

Visitor Logs Reveal ....

White House must make visitor logs public, court holds
Judicial Watch wins ruling on FOIA

Visitor Logs Reveal

A federal judge on Wednesday ruled that White House visitor logs maintained by the U.S. Secret Service are agency records and, as a result, are subject to disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act if not covered by one of the law’s many exemptions.

In a setback for the Obama administration, which had argued that the records did not have to be made public, U.S. District Judge Beryl A. Howell, in a 19-page opinion, sided with Judicial Watch, a Washington-based public watchdog organization, in a case challenging Secret Service arguments that the visitors’ logs were presidential records and, as a result, exempt from public disclosure.
