The Goose Hunt

Tails of the Gun

The Family What Hunts Together ...
A smibsid family hunt

WYSIWYG

In response to last week's "Hunting With Dad" photograph, Sid (smibsid) sent me these pictures of his family's  pastime - the shooting sports.  They are fortunate to have a big, big backyard to play in on their Southern Maryland farm estate.  (Southern Maryland seceded from Maryland, but are keeping it a secret).  It reminds me very much of my childhood summers spent on gammy & gampy West's Indiana farm (except for the geese).

Well Done Sid.

I was told long ago , "Teach your kids to hunt , and you'll never have to hunt for your kids" . It has proven to be true so far. They usually have their alarm clocks set , and their gear sitting by the door . Thanks Boss ; ) >

Looking back on that pic with the cows in the background . Right as I was taking the pic , my lab tried to squeeze under the electric fence . Her collar got caught in the fence , and she let out a yelp ! Those cows were half asleep , and freaked out ! They went into instant RODEO mode ! I wish I had a video ! THOSE FAT BASTARDS HAD MUD FLYING ! My sons eyes were as big as dinner plates ! They say a picture is worth a thousand words , it's true ! I hope someday when I'm gone they'll be able to look back , and smile . I think they will ; ) > SMIBSID

Those pictures are beautiful. I was lucky enough to have a father that taught us boys (5) to love the outdoors and to hunt too. God bless those folks for raising 'em right.

Dad was sick and so never got a chance to take me hunting of fishing. So now I do my best to figure out how to do it so that I can pass it on to my kids. I am thankful to my friends and the appleseed project http://www.appleseedinfo.org/

I went to Media Day at the Range for the SHOT Show today. The show begins tomorrow, but we got to see lots of new firearms and scopes today. R. Lee Ermey appeared for Glock. There will soon be loads of ink and video appearing on the show, and these things make terrific gifts under any administration, but especially this one.
