Can someone, without being heavy handed, explain wtf Sopa really is? I hear all this sloganeering and what not, but when I try to read specifics to see who is bullshitting me, my eyes glaze over.

Can someone give me a simple example of something that would be effected by this?

OK Anon, here goes. SOPA is one of a number of attempts by the entertainment industry to choke down the freedom of the internet so that they can control the means of distribution of their product. Instead of building a better mousetrap, they are intent upon limiting everyone's mousetrap.

For those who might come down on the "property rights" side of the argument, kiss my ass, you don't understand the history or reality of intellectual property rights.

Finally, I love the fact that Chris "The-other-half-of-Teddy's-two-man-sandwich/Fannie/Freddie" Dodd is now the spokesman for these evil fucks. Wake me early in the morning, and we'll burn them all at the stake. They're all lawyers trying to screw the talent, and the audience out of as much as they can.

The change in the number of opponents to SOPA/PIPA can be explained in the words of Sen Everett, Dirksen: "When I feel the heat, I see the light."

WV: wbbungr. Alternative "motorboating" sound.

Well, we were all up in arms over Obama Care, too. Fat lot of good that did us. They are going to cram these ones down our throats too unless we mere voters can cough up as much cash as the RIAA and the MPAA.

I'm deeply honored, and promise to only wear it with my mess dress.

It would do well to remind some, who shall go nameless, that defeatism is a chargeable offense with the same punishments as mutiny.

Here's the problem though. All the key provisions of SOPA will be reintroduced in other bills either as riders to existing, non related bills, or as new bills in their own right.

The price of freedom is eternal vigilance. These bastards just won't stop.
