The Great Escape

Sigh

                                                                                                                                          Getaway

If I was single and alone, this would be my absolute dream house.  I know,  there are other islands, but this one has a smaller adjacent island.  What a great place to escape to when you need to be by yourself— but more.

I always wanted to be a lighthouse keeper when I was a kid. Then the Coast Guard automated them which led directly to ATMs which caused the Great Recession.

PS I had to recycle thru 5 clues before I was one I could read. Sadistic Bastard!

The yardarm is a nice touch. Prolly a retired sailor's house. Land to please the wife with the feel of being at sea.

P.S. This new WV SUX!

Yardarm? I thought that was for the Intertubes, at least there is where I would want to get my boobie pictures.

Yardarm? No, that's the Richard Dawkins Chapel.

It should be a drawbridge, though.
Aaaand maybe it's the staff lodge.

What Doug said about the drawbridge.
I dunno, though. Every time I look at a photograph of a mansion on an island, I remember this video.

Yardarm.

"Yes dear. When I was on the ship, the Drinking Light was out until the sun was over the yardarm."

Then that one would need to be lowered quite a bit, rickn8or.

Not if it was to the east of the house...

Sailorgeek terminology update:
If I recall, a "yardarm" is the short outboard end of a yard beyond the lifts.
The yard is divided into bunt, quarter, and yardarm.
Good to know, if you get to makin' bar bets down by the wharf.
(What? Yeah, I'm sure somebody will correct me.)

I was thinking "his" and "her" islands.

Nice job concealing the meachine-gun nest on the refuge, Rodge.

Talk about your getaway refuge - look closely at the picture: the house is in Canada and the little island is in the USA!

Actually, I know where this place is.
