Leftist Hollywood Pisses People Off

Democrats vs. Republicans: Stars They Won't Pay to See; Movies They Hate and Love

Take DeNiro
Res Ipsa Loquitur

Democrats are bigger moviegoers

This is likely fueled by Hollywood's reputation -- among both parties -- for churning out movies that promote liberalism (Avatar was named by the most moviegoers as having a liberal agenda). During the past six months, Democrats have seen on average 5.7 movies in a theater, while Republicans have seen fewer than four.

STORY: Democrats vs. Republicans: Stars They Won't Pay to See; Movies They Hate and Love

When DeNiro walked on stage with Hillary Clinton in  a 2006 Hillary for Senate fundraiser,  my response was visceral.  First thing I remember feeling was disappointment.  That this movie star, whose every film I had seen, and enjoyed, was shilling for that hateful Clinton twat (remember, this is me thinking viscerally.  That can get ugly).  Second thing was, "Jesus, what is he?  5-feet two?  I could kick his ass (more visceral stuff, pay no attention)."

I'm not alone here, despising Her Filthiness's guts. She is to Obama what Frick is to Frack.  The whole world understands that H.C. is despised in much of America, but not Hollywood evidently. When the Brit show Top Gear went to Florida on a  driving adventure to New Orleans, there were challenges the three stars had to endure.  One was to paint signs on each other's cars designed to get the driver killed (during the ride through Alabama).  This was one of them.

Tell me what blockbuster hits DeNiro has starred in since 2006?  Maybe the first Fokkers  movie, but that's about it,  and he was only in a supporting role.  A lot of his old box office, like me, prolly have trouble suspending disbelief when his character appears in a movie.  It's hard not to let the mind wander.  Think about where  they find all those midgets.   Hollywood is a business.  You don't last long when you go out of your way to alienate 65% of  the customer pool.

FWIW I can't think of one of my friends who has seen more than maybe a single movie in a theater in the past ten years. We're a boring bunch, so out of touch with People magazine.

It takes me a very long time to warm up to a film enough to see it. So I buy the DVD. Most of my films are very old, and I am by no means current. I have to find out, through word of mouth and sites like this one, whether I'm interested in it at all. I recently saw Apocalypto, thanks to comments here. It was a terrific movie.

Some of the films I buy on DVD are old ones I saw when they were new, but want to see them again, and show them to my wife. Some John Wayne films are in this category, along with Soldier In The Rain, Day of the Jackal, and Charley Varrick. I like surprising my wife with films by actors she never expected in a role like that.

I am sensitive to the political pronunciamentos of the Hollywood crowd. I don't have a list of their sins, but try to remember why it was I hate this or that SOB. That's another reason I don't see the films too soon after release. Gives me time to remember why I shouldn't see that movie.

Last movie I paid money to see was Atlas Shrugged. Before that, the Bourne Identity, and I really had to suspend my morals on that one. Before that......I really don't remember. Years and years before that, certainly, and it was probably a Clint Eastwood flick. Probably.

Those Hollywood sumbitches act patronizing toward me, so I don't patronize the sumbitches. Go and do thou likewise.

I keep track of the "hollywierdos" that I/WE pay to PRETEND, in film/tv, to ENTERTAIN me/us that spew their anti american/socialist bile and put them on the no pay list.
I WONT give my money to someone who wants to totally fuck up this country, and since I/WE pay their wages by buying tickets/cd's,dvd's etc they have produced I give them a pay cut by NOT buying their crap.

As the above survey shows, what impact can we have on an industry we don't participate in anyway?

You guys should get out more. Not everything Hollywood puts out is total crap. One that comes to mind is Eastwood's Grand Torino. Not only should everyone here love that movie, many of us could be the real-life main character.

GrinfilledTorino - I think the main point is just that. Conservative valued films do better at the box office (because we're at heart a conservative nation). Bottom line- America hates Liberals, especially Hollywood Libs.

Hollywood has been mostly progressive weenies since John Wayne. I haven't paid to see a new release in over twenty years.

"Screw 'em. Bit Torrent!" Tim?

The Muslums own New York, but Hollywood owns congress.

GrinfilledTorino, I have Grand Torino, Blind Side, and other films of the current era, but not stuff just out. How old are those two films? Old enough so I can decide whether I want to bother. Not all mine are 40 years old, but a good many are.

It's half-time in Grand Toreno.
