Mitt- I Will Defund the Left

Oh My

Res Ipsa Loquitor

“Romney: I’d cut PBS, Obamacare, arts subsidies,” is running over a Romney interview with CBS Evening News anchor Scott Pelley. Asked for specific budget cuts, Romney listed “the subsidy for PBS, the subsidy for Amtrak, the subsidy for the National Endowment for the Arts” and “the subsidy for the National Endowment for the Humanities.” [Full wonderfullness]

Okay. I'm beginning to want to have Mitt's baby. If he follows through,  he would  immediately  serve notice that he means business, unlike the prior 563 Republicans who promised the same thing.

WTF man, have you been hanging out with the nihilists? There's momentum here. Reagan would never have been Ronaldus Magnus without Jimmy the weasel. When the tide rolls in come November, a lot of rats are going to drown. For this we may thank the incompetent Obama, and Palin and all those folks in the tea party who have been toiling in the vineyard. There are people in the party in place to effect real change. Now drink the jeezus juice, and get back up there in the line.

For the first time, I feel a real nut-busting landslide heading our way.

I hope the RINO's are watching...and shaking in their boots as well. This is CONSERVATISM on the march, not some RNC-business-as-usual thing.

As for Obama and the progs, to say "be very afraid" is the height of understatement. If sunlight is the best disinfectant, think of this as a soon-to-arrive super-nova.

Have these comments been mis-posted? Else How the fkg-fk do government subsidies square with Laissez Faire? Especially subsidies to one of the left's biggest agit-proppers, PBS? Sheesh.

That's all well and good if the duckheads in congress allow it. But, our boy won't be unilaterally doing jack shit, unlike our other boy who's pen grants his every whim. No, Mittens will not stick his neck out. Name the last GOP pick that actually did what he said he was going to do.

George fooled me and it hurt a lot so I'm not falling for this GOP crap again.

W presided as a RINO from start (nation building in Iraq and Medicare Part D) to finish (Govt Motors bailout).  But tell me how things would have been better with either the Fat Perv Algore or John Effin Kerry?

Casca, you are an inspiration, and I am very hopeful for the results of this election season. I still can't shake the feeling that Mitt is a squish though. He's a good man, but I don't think that he's anything close to Reagan, at least in terms of vision. Reagan knew that winning the election required some compromise, and Mitt seems to as well. I'm just worried that Mitt will think that governing requires more conciliation than what he promises.

I know all the fears. Willard has the same problem with Republicans as the fellow who married the widow. He's competing with the memory of a saint. Let's give Mitt the chance to delight or disappoint on his own. Nobody is perfect. Smart people pick the battles they fight, and hopefully Romney picks winners. Even if we held the Presidency and both chambers, we wouldn't get ALL that we'd want. So let's be grownups and accomplish what we can WITH OUR GUY, and keep these useless fucks from destroying The Republic.

The first thing I would cut is all funding of non-profits. All of them so that they cannot claim we are picking favorites. They can enter a competitive bid if they are performing any essential services.

It won't make a dent in the deficit but you have to start somewhere and show that you are serious.

Cutting PBS and the arts subsidies is chicken feed, other than symbolic. What he can't say coz it'd cost him too much in the midwest is that he'll cut agriculture subsidies too. And yet here's my prediction: He will.

Rodg: I don't understand either of your comments to this post.

I'm with Freddie on the*spit* non-profits. Most are tax shelters for people paying themselves nice salaries to espouse some political cause, undermine the Constitution or lobby Congress to pay for the charitable work they claim to do.
Only real charities deserve a tax break; i.e, charities where most of the staff are volunteers, where maybe 80% of the funds raised go to the people in need of help.
Salvation Army, Wounded Warrior, Navy Marine Corps Relief Fund come to mind.
The other day, I looked at the 2012 Federal 'budget' and there is $580 billion for category 600, Income Security. That is payment in cash or near cash equivalent to people who for the most part haven't paid a dime in taxes. That's cash for squirting babies and food stamps, folks. It's bigger than the Defense budget at $553 billion, not including Iraq and Afghanistan at $118 billion. If we'd leave the ingrates alone, we could put that wasted money elsewhere.
Then there is another $139 billion for Education, Training, Employment and Social Services, IOW, make work for Gender Studies and Critical Theory majors who don't know how do anything but bitch and beg.
Then we have another $339 billion for HHS, which has Administration on Aging (AoA), Administration for Children & Families (ACF), Agency for Healthcare Research & Quality (AHRQ), Agency for Toxic Substances & Disease Registry (ATSDR), Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS), Food & Drug Administration (FDA), Health Resources and Services Administration ((HRSA), Indian Health Service (IHS), National Institutes of Health (NIH), Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Think there might be some redundancy or more makework?
Once you get past the howls and crying, it looks almost too easy to cut the budget.

Woohoo, I call shotgun.

I don't care if it saves just a penny. Can you imagine how much better life on Earth would be if we could cut the head off America's Fifth Column?
