10 Senate Candidates - Not 8

It's the top of the seventh— time to stretch

This ad, paid for by the American Conservatives Fund, is running on various websites, like Drudge.  For some reason they left Maine Republican Charles Summers out of the mix. The Maine seat is open because Vichy Republican Olympia Snowe is retiring, citing the Senate's "atmosphere of polarization."  Miss Snowe just wanted to be loved. That opened the door for former Gov. Angus King, who is running as an "independent."

Mr. King stepped in and said he would run as an independent. But his record, and his announced intention of voting for President Obama, suggests a likely alliance with the Democrats. The nonpartisan Rothenberg Political Report now puts Maine in the “leans Democratic” column. (NYT)

Ahem.

Akin was likely left out because this group probably has a bit too much Vichy-GOP DNA, and are spooked because the media piled on him for an ill considered comment, not even close in importance to Obama's "57 States,"  or any of a hundred others  Akin was ahead of Democrat incumbent McCaskill, and the race is still up in the air. That's a potential flip of eight senate seats for us, and that's what President Romney will need to outlaw the Democrat Party.

Right?

Who for NM? I'm not seeing any real choice, beyond "R". And that purely for numbers.

It would have been interesting to see a bill co-sponsored by a reformed Olympia Snowe and AZ Jeff Flake.

Snowflake, AZ is named for the Flake and Snow family's. Jeff is a descendent of the pioneer Flake family.

These are the Senate candidates supported by Sen. Jim DeMint's "Senate Conservatives Fund".  DeMint is a real conservative which means he is hated by RINOs like McConnell.  I started to contribute to SCF shortly after Milhous was elected.  You should too, RKOF.

I love DeMint, but the reason Summers and Akin were excluded is...?

I don't know about Summers, but I would exclude Akin just because he is too stupid to know how to avoid answering media gotcha questions.

Like Reagan? The media portrayed just about his every utterance as proof of his bumble-headedness. Granted, Akin may not be Einstein, but is aslo definitely not Claire McCaskill.

cmblake6,

For NM Heather Wilson is somewhat moderate but knows defense, is an AF Academy grad and is far better than the dim rubber stamp heinrich.

The third party candidate isn't even on the ballot and from see him a couple of times in person is not wound very tightly on the reel.

I do not know.  Maybe they are RINOs, maybe SCF is just trying to concentrate its resources.  But I do know that if SCF supports a candidate, then you can be reasonably confident that he is not a RINO.

SCF is not Republican; it is conservative.  Typical of SCF was its support of Cruz over Crist (then RINO now Dem) in FL when the RNC was 100% behind Crist.  Also typical was SCFs support of Mourdock against Lugar (RINO) in IN, again contrary to the RNC.

DeMint's mission is (I think) to 1) make himself Senate Leader or failing that 2) to create a real conservative caucus sizable enough to influence.
