Angela Merkel arrives at Passport Control at Paris airport.
"Nationality?" asks the immigration officer.
"German," she replies.
"Occupation?"
"No, just here for a few days."

Republican leaders have already decided to close down the Fast and Furious investigation ...

Res Ipsa Loquitur

... according to the man who broke the “Gunwalker” story a year and a half ago,  Sources in Washington, DC have told him (blogger and citizen reporter Mike Vanderboegh) that Republican leaders have already decided to close down the Fast and Furious investigation and halt contempt proceedings against Eric Holder, because “they (the GOP leadership) don’t think that they will suffer for [that] failure to follow through. They’re scared of Holder’s race card. . . they’re scared of Trayvon. They think if they let Issa fail, that it will only be a story in the blogosphere for a day . . . that they can weather it. . . .” Unfortunately, Vanderboegh makes it clear that he trusts the word of these sources “implicitly.” [Western Center for Journalism]

I am not going to believe it.  Not until I hear it from a reliable source.  Not even John Boner, and he is a poseur on a level with Obama,  not even he could be that brazen, and that stupid.  If it is true,  the fallout could ignite a TeaParty jungle clearing mob response (good), or douse all fervor for the upcoming election.

Scott Walker v. Obama

The Scott Walker Identity

Res Ipsa Loquitur

RUSH:  ... The unions -- I was gonna get to Scott Walker at some point in the stack, but I might as well touch on it briefly.  There's a couple of stories here in the stack about the unions losing strength in Wisconsin.

"Republican Governor Scott Walker widened his lead over Democrat Tom Barrett to 7percentage points in a new poll."  It's less than a week.  Walker at 52.  Barrett is at 45.

Wall Street Journal:  "Wisconsin Unions See Ranks Drop Ahead of Recall Vote -- Public-employee unions in Wisconsin have experienced a dramatic drop in membership -- by more than half for the second-biggest union -- since a law championed by Republican Gov. Scott Walker sharply curtailed their ability to bargain over wages and working conditions."

This Wisconsin recall election, the Democrats, this is their election.  They demanded this.  It's a recall.  They started it. They wanted it. It was gonna be a proving ground. It was where they were gonna demonstrate the power of unions, public-sector employees.  They were gonna get rid of a Republican governor and his ideas, and the exact worst-case scenario is happening.  The Democrat National Committee has pulled all money out.  They are conceding already.  The big risk in Wisconsin, I'll tell you what it is.  The big risk in Wisconsin is that Walker voters get a sense of complacency, think this is over, and don't show up.  That's the biggest risk right now, and that's what the largest concern is.  But this election that the Democrats demanded, this has considerable ramifications for organized labor.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH:  The lesson in Wisconsin is that conservatism works.  Scott Walker has done everything that Obama says is impossible to do.  He cut spending and expanded the economy while lowering taxes and laying off no one.  It's amazing.

House rejects bill penalizing doctors for sex-selective abortions

The House on Thursday rejected a Republican bill that would impose fines and prison terms on doctors who perform abortions for the sole purpose of controlling the gender of the child, a practice known as sex-selective abortion.

Red China, until quite recently, restricted families to just one child, and everyone wanted a boy.  So, if a girl was born she quite often had her head summarily smashed against a brick wall. The difference between that practice and sex-selective abortion is one only of degree. It seems to me then that this is a black and white issue, with  no shades of gray.  Obviously though, these Republicans, certainly they who voted and not absented themselves, disagreed.

I'll guess that Ron Paul, and maybe others objected, on stark Libertarian grounds, that the Feds have no bidness dictating to states.  However, the practice is nominally performed under the Roe v. Wade umbrella, so that's a specious, not to mention heinous, argument.

THE HILL article reports seven Republicans joined with Democrats in voting no, so I may have missed one.

Axelrod not only asshat getting stuffed

I  was drawn to the New York Times by Drudge's link to Axelrod’s Anti-Romney Message Gets Drowned Out, which turned out to be quite delicious. While it's way too early for me to go looking for this crap, there was an electoral map on the page, so I clicked it.  It took a millisecond for the mind to balance that sea of red against an Obama lead (217-206), but it did after noticing that the "Leaning Republican" states were very, very doable for Romney, and the sea of undecided votes held more than enough catchable fish.  I am officially declaring the race over.  Then, clicking on "The Race For the Senate"  link brought more  deliciousness.— even without Massachusetts, which is called a "toss-up" state.

MASSACHUSSETTS

Senator Scott P. Brown, a Republican, stunned the political class two years ago when he won a special election to fill the seat of the late Senator Edward M. Kennedy. His re-election bid is a critical piece of the Republican plan to win control of the Senate. He faces a strong challenge from Elizabeth Warren, a Harvard professor, who became a champion to Democrats when she set up the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau in the Obama administration.

Say goodnight Harry.

Paterson- "He got away with it"

“A lot of people get away with a lot of things.”

Res Ipsa Loquitur

On his show yesterday, former governor of New York David Paterson suggested Barack Obama could be ineligible for the Oval Office but “got away” with it.

“Even if he wasn’t born in the United States at this point,” Paterson said. “It’s kind of like he got away with it.”

He continued, “A lot of people get away with a lot of things.”

Paterson compared Obama’s actions to those of President Richard Nixon.

How very quaint [from two years ago!].

The  Sierra Club, ECO Terrorists
The media are finally catching up to America's shale natural gas boom, with even Fortune magazine waddling in with a cover story. But the bigger recent news is that Res Ipsa Loquiturone of the most powerful environmental lobbies, the Sierra Club, is mounting a major campaign to kill the industry.

The battle plan is called "Beyond Natural Gas," and Sierra Club executive director Michael Brune announced the goal in an interview with the National Journal this month: "We're going to be preventing new gas plants from being built wherever we can." The big green lobbying machine has rolled out a new website ...

Iran Computers hit virus;
"more harmful than the 2010 Stuxnet virus"

Moscow-based Kaspersky Lab ZAO said the "Flame" virus was unprecedented both in terms of its size and complexity, possessing the ability to turn infected computers into all-purpose spying machines that can even suck information out of nearby cell phones.

"This is on a completely different level," Kaspersky researcher Roel Schouwenberg said in a telephone interview Tuesday. "It can be used to spy on everything that a user is doing."
