good idea to say that virtually all elected Democrats are liars, but what

Obama’s Third-Party History
New documents shed new light on his ties to a leftist party in the 1990s.
By Stanley Kurtz

The New Party

The New Party
In late October 2008, when I wrote here at National Review Online that Obama had been a member of the New Party, his campaign sharply denied it, calling my claim a “crackpot smear.” Fight the Smears, an official Obama-campaign website, staunchly maintained that “Barack has been a member of only one political party, the Democratic Party.” I rebutted this, but the debate was never taken up by the mainstream press.
[...]

Recently obtained evidence from the updated records of Illinois ACORN at the Wisconsin Historical Society now definitively establishes that Obama was a member of the New Party. He also signed a “contract” promising to publicly support and associate himself with the New Party while in office.

[...]

Minutes of the meeting on January 11, 1996, of the New Party’s Chicago chapter read as follows:

Barack Obama, candidate for State Senate in the 13th Legislative District, gave a statement to the membership and answered questions. He signed the New Party “Candidate Contract” and requested an endorsement from the New Party. He also joined the New Party.

Consistent with this, a roster of the Chicago chapter of the New Party from early 1997 lists Obama as a member, with January 11, 1996, indicated as the date he joined. [Obama’s Third-Party History]

The thing is, the New Party was distinct from the Democratic Party.  In fact it was deeply hostile to the mainstream of the Democratic party and even to American capitalism.  Do we use another word for this philosophy boys and girls?  Yes, yes we do.

This also struck me.  As more "new" information about Obama's past is revealed, as will invariably happen, none of it will be without the phrase. "..  sharply denied it, calling my claim a 'crackpot smear'.”

Yay- It's Coal!!

From time to time I like to see what has Democrats Underground in a lather.  I mostly don't get too excited by the goings on there anymore.  I've accepted (truly) that they are an alien people who fell through some wormhole into our culture, or we theirs.  Anyway, it's like looking at a roadside accident as you move by, gruesome, but you have to look.

One of the things that have them agitated is this.

.WASHINGTON - An award-winning coal-mining activist was questioned for 45 minutes by police on suspicion of child pornography after U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn's energy and mineral resources subcommittee decided a photo she submitted of a child in foul bathwater was inappropriate.

Maria Gunnoe of West Virginia had been invited by Lamborn - a Colorado Springs Republican and the subcommittee's chairman - to testify at his hearing Friday on the Spruce Coal Mine in her state. It was the fourth time Gunnoe had been in front of the committee and the second time she had been there at the behest of Lamborn. blah-blah-blah

I don't know about coal mining hearings, but given Obama's war on coal (or any energy production) in the U.S.), it's no surprise that there are hearings.  The DU story paints a a lurid picture of Lamborn and other Republicans ("shows that their minds are right there in the gutter beside their hearts").  Reading from the Congressional record however paints a different picture of  Maria Gunnoe of West Virginia.

."I am Maria Gunnoe from Boone County WV and I (like 100’s of others) help to represent the stories of the Appalachian Communities where coal mining impacts are killing the people  ...

[...]

The Bush Administration sent word to W.Va state Department of Environmental Protection Secretary Stephanie Timmermyer to get these permits pushed through as quickly as possible, In George Bush’s words “We need this coal, our homeland security depends on it.” The coal industry was allowed to do as they please during the 8 years of the Bush Administration.

Then in 2009, in steps the Obama administration’s EPA trying to fix the problems that the Bush administration created and then ignored. ...

One suspects that Ms. Gunnoe also sports a Hawaiian birth certificate (ahem), being as she is so "one" with that wretched man in the White house.  By the by, that photo could be described as inappropriate if presented out of context in Pedo Weekly (although it must be said that some find any child photographs "suggestive").  By making an issue of it however, Rep.Lamborn  changed the focus from the motives of another  left-wing eco-wacko to that silliness.

ASIDE: Another DU concern, and probably the effect of all our selfish carbon dioxiding, is The end of the Milky Way galaxy as we know it

"Now, for the first time, NASA scientists say they know "with certainty" when our beloved galaxy will cease to exist .. in 4 billion years the Milky Way and Andromeda will collide or pass each other by so closely that the gravitational force each exerts on the other will cause them to slow down to the point of merging. The merger will be completed 6 billion years from now. "

God help us if Democrats ever control congress again.  Or the UN prevail.  All our money will go to stopping this.

Three barrels of fun

Tails of the Gun

The "Holy Grail"

Res Ipsa Loquitur

From a story in the Scotsman:
A unique triple-barrelled shotgun made for a Scots aristocrat has been sold at auction for £43,000 (then $66,000). The shotgun - dubbed the "Holy Grail" - was made in April 1891 for John Adrian Louis Hope, 1st Marquess of Linlithgow and the seventh Earl of Hopetoun. The three-barrelled ejector, 16-bore gun, with three triggers, was designed by renowned Edinburgh gun makers John Dickson & Son and is the only one of its kind. Its origins were identified after the gun was taken to a valuing event at Hopetoun House, South Queensferry, and it has now been sold at Holt's auction in London, to a private collector, after fierce bidding from around the world.

Holt's founder, Nicholas Holt, said: "This is completely unique - the holy grail for any shotgun collector. "The gun maker, which still exists in Edinburgh, looked back in their records and found this was the only single 16-bore, round action side by side by side ejector ever made. The mechanism was too complex to make more, but it still works fantastically well today and is capable of shooting three gamebirds with its three barrels."

(Free Republic, where you can also find a "Zombie Apocalypse")
When I spied this picture without explanation,  I was sure them was the 8 gauge barrels of a "coach gun," and I wanted it.   Since it's only a common 16 gauger, not so much.
