Call it "Prune Juice Patriotism" and I'm all in because the first thing we got to do is help those fine American Patriots that are full of shit. That's what I see.

Let's see if I can add something interesting and informative to these gratuitous ethnic pejoratives.

Florida citrus fruits are rich gold mines ...

Of course that's true and living in Florida helps to tap those veins of nutrition without canning. The key to identifying the most luscious Florida citrus is it's ugliness: greenish, spotty, small, and misshapen.

Just the other day I was whirling around Costco's selection of perfect looking oranges and asked the manager why he didn't stock ugly Florida oranges. He had a pat answer, so I am not the only miffed customer. He told me Tropicana contracts all the local growers to purchase every orange and grapefruit. Well, not *all* of them, but there aren't enough to secure a steady supply. So Costco flies them in from Cali.

Yuck. Illegals sell me melons and citrus at half the price and twice as sweet and juicy. But we still get a daily gram or two of vitamin C from gummy vites, which are even more delicious. Plus they seem to make us invulnerable to illness. If I had an army, they would get a handful everyday.

((I have a few good Tropicana stories reserved for future crappy posts.))

I have a series of TIME magazines spanning the beginning of World War 2, there are ads pretty similar to this, which I always found fascinating. Didn't beat around the bush, did we?

As far as Tropicana, Helly, there must be something like that going on around here. Hermiston Watermelons are freaking delicious, but every year with out fail, our big stores get stuck with dried out, inconsistent Mexican Watermelons.

It sort of feels like living in Idaho and having to buy Chinese imported potatoes.
