Geolocating Tom Jefferson Americans

Outrage of the Week: New App Targets Gun Owners

Res Ipsa Loquitor

This week's outrage comes to us from a rather unlikely source:  the Google Play app store.  The new app is called the Gun Geo Marker, and encourages users to "geolocate dangerous guns and owners" in their communities.

According to Google Play, "Geolocation means marking dangerous sites on the App's map so that you and others can be aware of the risks in your neighborhood."  Think about that for a minute.  The purpose of the app--other than sensationalism and profit--is to encourage people to anonymously "flag" locations in their community they subjectively deem "dangerous" and to make that information as public as possible.  The probability for abuse and the certainty of inaccurate "reporting" cannot be overstated.  What's to keep people from marking any location for any reason at all?  Nothing.  The practice is not only a serious invasion of privacy, but would also be just as dangerous and irresponsible as publishing the names of concealed-carry permit holders in local papers.

The app could enable thieves to target and steal firearms from law-abiding gun owners, while conversely advertising that other residences are "gun free" and therefore easy targets for criminals.  [Full]

Of course it will also let yeggs pick safe targets to burgle.  The real outrage is of course that Google is again facilitating the Fascist Left's ambition to have a dossier on every American.  It will take the average semi educated, and somewhat observant person, about 2 ms to recognize why they'd want these "controls."

Since Tom Mann sent me this earlier,  I've been trying to find  another  Blog program that I can  implement myself, without having to devote my life to it, and still maintain the look and feel of C&S over the past 10 years.  Makes me shudder, but I am determined to divorce myself entirely from Google Inc, even if it means getting out of the business.

Like where every scumbag libtard that you know of lives, works and plays?
We can play the 'demonize' game too.

Ohio Radical Ron

I have a suggestion for some gun-loving egghead; Write an app that locates all of the abortion clinics and the homes of their clients. But, you'll have to be prepared for the Obama-bots to come out of the woodwork over that one. Ya' see, someone would really be trampling on their privacy then.

The Biggest Shell Game in US History.

So much attention being paid to the second amendment (and EVERY other thug move being made by the cesspool called the WH). Once the first amendment is washed - none of the others will matter.
I regularly don't share here what I believe for sake of blog security. Speaking in whispers was for the USSR. And it's fking shite!

Why do you blame Google for this? They are followers, not leaders. This app is exactly what a banana republic deserves.

I'd use it to flag every Democrat on the island. (There are just a few.) You never know when a sociopath will turn from odorous to violent. So this is good until we can get them all fitted with tracking anklets.

But for those in less civilized precincts, the app can be easily neutralized by flooding the map with random markers. Remember, the correct answer to bad speech in America will always be MORE speech.

It shouldn't be too hard to write an app that would fill in the geolocations from a database.

For example, if voter registrations are public records, start with the names and addresses of all registered democrats.

If voter registrations aren't public, start with the phone book. Select every other address.

I use Typepad for my blog; it's pretty easy. I left Blogger years ago because Google. You know, that whole "Don't be evil" meme that they were propagating back then - I could see through it.

Google is NOT your friend. It should be destroyed. After a fair and impartial trial of course.

You can't stop information technology. It cuts both ways. The best you can do is throw up roadblocks. This is just a side effect of having increasing amount of computational resources available.

The proper response to this is to have a crowdsourced group effort to poison the database with the locations of police stations, stores, business, homes, etc, etc.

Mind you, that will only work for a while, because someone would eventually do another layer of analysis and filter out the "crap".

Join that with merging information from other database sources and you're best bet is to make sure you never, ever, have anything registered with any government authority ever again. Build your own.
