They don't make them like Art anymore. Well, they do but those guys don't make the team for some reason. The old ways are the best ways I always say.

Artiemwas a regular guy. If you ran into him on the street, or at some tailgate party, he'd be willing to regale you with stories that he could never tell on Letterman. I loved the guy,, and as near as I can tell, everybody who met him feels the same way. How many people in the world can have that said of them?

That was pretty funny, but it reminded me of a true fact:

You can't kill a Vermonter by hitting him in the head.

Very funny. That Artie was a riot.
Sure miss Carson, though. He was the last of the classy for that time period on late night telly. None other since can hold a candle to him.

Artie was a great guy and a very funny guy. I just read his obit in the local paper part of which said,".......autobiography, appropriately titled, "Fatso." Donovan liked to say he was a light eater — "When it got light, I started eating."
He told some really great stories.

I didn't know he passed.
One of a kind. When I was a kid, McClellan's was an old country store up the street from our house in Idlewylde, with a general store in one half and Donovan's liquor store in the other. Artie owned the liquor store, and in the off season, he was the big guy behind the counter who handed you your case of beer or brown bagged bottle of booze, with a big grin and a kind word, and if things were slow, a story or funny light banter. He was a real gem.
RIP Artie. You were a gift to us.

I wonder if the NFL of today even knows what they've lost. Donovan was a treasure. His show was so funny and so popular that even one of the Washington stations picked it up for a time.

May he rest in peace.
