Way Back ....

Wayback ...

Here's something of a treasure I happened upon by touching off a hot link on an old post.  It's a Wayback Machine for the Wall Street Journal  on  Friday, October 31, 2003.  Cool.  But what surprised me was that all the links are also confined to that date, so for instance  an article, "Will Success Spoil the Cubs?"  and this Best of the Web tid-bit are saved.

If He Were a Republican, This Would Be Hate Speech--XIV

It turns out the Associated Press account of an Iowa brawl between staffers for Dick Gephardt and Howard Dean, which we noted yesterday, was rather sanitized. Deanie Hunter Allen alleged that the two unnamed Gephardtians "used a derogatory slur," as the AP's Dept. of Redundancy Dept. put it.

The Sioux City Journal adds some crucial detail: "The Dean staff member, 24-year-old Hunter Allen, who is openly gay, said he was called a 'faggot' by a Gephardt staff member after being shoved and escorted out of the event."

I had forgotten about this valuable resource.  The bastids can't hide what they said in the past at all,  can they?  Wait.  That includes this bastid.  Those bastids!. Horry Clap - check this. The old format and everything.

Heard on the news that unpaid interns in the state of New York cannot bring sexual harassment suits against the company they work for because, since they're unpaid, they're not considered employees of that company.

They need to pass a law. And we can call it Monica's law.

Works for me. Get 'em young, bring 'em up right and make sure they can't sue you. Perfect.
