West Maryland!

Conservative group wants liberation for western Maryland
Fed up with taxes and Democratic dominance, they want to create 51 state

I spoke Monday to the leader of what's called the Western Maryland Initiative. Scott Strzelczyk is his name. He doesn't like the word "secession." He's talking about something different — the formation of a new state out of five counties. The U.S. Constitution allows regions to separate with approval from the state legislature and Congress. There are similar efforts around the country. West Virginia is the last state to successfully break away from another, and that was 150 years ago.

Democrats rigged the 6th Cong. district with a big chunk of liberal Montgomery County to guarantee the election last fall of John Delaney, depriving Western Maryland voters of an 11th term of representation by the 86-year-old Roscoe Bartlett of Buckey
That's what Strzelczyk has in mind.

He no longer wants to be part of the Maryland associated with Prince Georges County, Baltimore City and Montgomery County. Being a Republican, he's miserable. The Democrats control the Maryland General Assembly, hold all statewide offices and, he says, gerrymandered legislative and Congressional districts. The state has only one Republican member of Congress, Andy Harris.

"The entire state is controlled basically by three jurisdictions," Strzelczyk said. "That's not representative government. ... We don't think this government can be fixed."

The solution? Form your own state. [Full tingle]

Be still my heart.  Do I think seceding has a chance of succeeding?  No.  Not unless conditions that allowed West Virginia  to leave Virginia (rebellion) occur.  But just seeing it in print makes my gentleman's area tingle.  And speaking of this preposterously oppressive State, Texas Gov. Rick Perry has got on the nerves of Md. Gov. Martin "The White Obama" O'Malley with this radio ad, that urges MD businesses to move to Texas.

I love it so.

If you think the Obama health law is only for the uninsured and you won’t be affected, you’re in for a surprise next time you go to the doctor. Be prepared for questions unrelated to why you are seeking medical help — questions that you don’t want to answer.

Whether you’re at the dermatologist or the cardiologist, you’ll likely be asked: “Are you sexually active? If so, do you have one partner, multiple partners or same-sex partners?”

This is nasty business,” says Dr. Adam Budzikowski, a New York cardiologist, who called the sex question “insensitive, stupid and very intrusive.” He could not think of an occasion when a cardiologist would need such information.

Doctors are being turned into government agents, where they’re pressured financially to ask questions they consider inappropriate and unnecessary and violate their Hippocratic Oath to keep patients’ records confidential.

Going to the doctor can be embarrassing. But for your own good, you confide in your doctor, as you wouldn’t anyone else. What is happening here is different.

Wow, I knew PA (esp. Philly) was corrupt, but this?
What?
Never mind.

Why the West ignores Christian Persecution?
Shortt suggests that the subject does not receive much attention for two reasons: first, because “persecuted Christians tend not to respond with terrorist violence”, and second, because “parts of the media have been influenced by the logical error that equates criticism of Muslims with racism, and therefore as wrong by definition”.
