Imagine getting a phone call

Phone scammers say they are from
Md. sheriff's department, request money

Hoes in the Outfield
MARYLAND -- Imagine getting a phone call from a sheriff's deputy saying there's a warrant out for your arrest.

And imagine hearing them tell you the only way out is for you to give out your credit-card information and Social Security number.

Imagine that you fall for it and comply.

Now Imagine that you're a Maryland voter in Liberal Montgomery County.  Not so hard to understand now, is it?

That's just one type of law enforcement scam. There are other fund raising efforts for law enforcement where the caller claims to be an officer or deputy. They aren't. Funds raised may partly go to the organization that has hired the callers, but they are never actual law enforcement officers.
