The Age of Obamrarius
A
little help here boss ...
O.K. Now, I never got serious about earning my doctorate in linguistics. Took a couple post-grad level courses and realized how much it would cost me in tuition and lost wages and all, so I just went to work teachin reg'lar English classes at the university level. Since I don't have the terminal degree in etymology and nonce words and a pro pos diction cuteness, I must ask you to be patient with me and help me out when my knowledge is incomplete, as with the following somewhat paradoxical situation: The Satanists, the Devil Worshippers, the Diabolotrists, the Demoniacs are now insisting on allowing prayer in schools from K-12. Yes, children praying in school. The only stipulation is that they pray to Satan. Now . . . what IS le mot jus which covers this twist of events???? I think it's a brief word, about 5 letters with 3 distinct syllables, kinda like ivory, but I think it has the letter n in it. Anybody know? Prof. Metzger

I have never understood why good Xians don't pray for Satan. After all, He's the one who needs their prayers most ;-)

This is why I've long opposed prayer in public schools. Everyone supporting prayer in the schools seems to assume the prayer is going to be like the ones they hear every Saturday or Sunday.
Once that door is opened, all the other religious types are going to be throwing elbows to get their spot at the table.
And we know who throws elbows the hardest... - 4/16/14, 11:54 AM

Until sometime in the 70's (or later) MD public schools began each day with the Pledge of Allegiance and a bible reading (King James). As a Catholic I might have protested being forced into Protestant bible indoctrination (as if I knew any difference), but then I would have, properly, had the shit kicked out of me after school by my peers. For being an asshole.
The point is, there was zero harm done to anyone, atheists included, The people who later (e.g. Madalyn Murray O'Hair) used the courts to change that benign culture, today have the gall to claim the "Tolerance" high road. Now we have a fractured culture, without moral guard rails, because the State is the religion. Look at what we are now. - 4/16/14, 1:02 PM

And this, ladies and gentleman, is why we have the First Amendment.
Imagine what would happen if we had a Satanic theocracy.
(see also: Islamism)
As an atheist, I am at risk of bein' beheaded or burned at the stake by only one more sect/cult that you are.
Yep, freedom of religion is a big ol' yessiree, far as I'm concerned … as long as it's mutual. - 4/16/14, 1:07 PM

Thank you Roger, this is why you are the Real King of France. Your comment cuts through all the bs and injects what's missing....common freaking sense....
This is also why the left tries to balkanize our culture so that we cannot ever go back to the way it was. Makes me sad.....and murderously angry too, in the good way of course. - 4/17/14, 6:09 PM
