Amazing. I wonder if L-T Carr's stolen FW-190 was included in his count of 15 kills.

I see an MP on the wing, and another in front of the plane.
I see bent propellor blades, the kind associated with a wheels up landing, or a partial collapse of the landing gear.

I'm guessing the fellow wearing the 3 color scarf is Carr; as the film identifies him. He is standing next to some large object; it could be an airplane body, a wing, or the fabric rain cover to a Jeep. We see someone else coming out from under it. My guess is that it's a right wing, as it looks like there is a wing gun or pitot tube visible on the edge.

We don't see Carr IN the plane, ON the plane, or coming OUT of anything readily identifiable AS the plane.

Perhaps the greatest generation can tell the greatest whoppers too. With the BS Meter in the 50/50 position, my reaction is that this is a tall tale.

Here is a link to a photo of that same crowd and that same surprisingly small plane, with info that it was a post-war joyride gone a bit wrong. So in other words, a story.
