Shots have been fired outside a conference on cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed in a suburb of the US city of Dallas, police say.

A Swat team member told the conference that one officer and two suspects were shot – but it is not clear if the shootings are related to the event.

Police have put the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland on lockdown and told participants in the event not to leave.

Dutch anti-Islamic politician Geert Wilders was attending the conference.

Perspective:  Why Islam is a national threat of the first magnitude.
  • Is everyone in American entertainment (including news media)  a hard core leftist?
  • Were all Germans Nazis?
  • Were all Russians communist?
  • Were all Colombians in the pocket of the country's drug cartels?
  • Were all New Yorkers mafioso?
  • Are all Muslims psychopathic killers?
The answers are pretty much yesif they were material to the aims of the ruling thugs.  The penalty for resistance was/is death (or unemployment, in the case of American media). Mohammed's new religion swept through all of Arabia in less than a century. Via the sword. There were no converts to Islam.  That's the culture we're dealing with.

Swat team member says "Not clear if the shootings are related to the event" but was thinking "I'm not allowed to say that two Muslims with bombs were killed trying to blow up a building in Texas."

Interesting note from The Strategy Page: In Pakistan thousands protested the publication of a picture of Mohammed on the cover of French magazine Charlie Hebdo (whose offices were attacked earlier and 12 people murdered). These demonstrations have taken place for about a week and a journalist was shot in Karachi by an armed demonstrator. Despite, or because of this, more Muslims are speaking up about the fact that there was never a religious prohibition to depicting the prophet Mohammed in a picture and centuries old pictures of Mohammed exist. These were created in Muslim countries where there was never any homicidal rage over such illustrations. The current violence is based on a myth created by modern Islamic radicals and successfully imposed on many Muslims. That's right, all this violence and huffing and puffing by Muslims is based on NOTHING!

Gun Violence claims the lives of two art critics...
"Draw, Mohammad"
Don't mess with Texas...the traffic cop used his pistol against to rifle bearing armor wearing terrorists... a great job on his part.
RAK.

Good thing they didn't hold the event in New York City. Probably would have resulted in the death of a couple of hundred people. That workplace violence can get out of hand.

I remember the "Piss Christ" art exhibit back in the '90's (I think). A Crucifix in a jar of urine.

Yea, I wanted to jab the artist in the face, but as I recall, no one did. But the media had no problem covering the event as a freedom guaranteed by our constitution.

Todays media went straight for the jugular of the organizers of this event, calling them hate mongers.

We're circling the drain...

What I seem to remember is that Piss Crist was tax-payer funded by the chablis sipping Nat-Endow-Arts pissants. That's what I remember.

Where in the hell was du Toit?

I would say he is on Texas militia maneuvers as I write this.

You remember correctly, Raja. Andres Serrano's "Piss Christ" was only one of the works at that taxpayer-funded exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum. Another was Chris Ofili's depiction of the Virgin Mary smeared with elephant dung.

The "artists" were lauded for their "creativity" and "courage" by the same people who now call Pam Geller an "Islamophobic hatemonger".

Garland, Texas should win an award for "Quickest and Most Satisfactory Ending to a Terrorist Attack".

Let's hope that all the best laid schemes of Jihadists gang aft agley the way this one did!

Molon, Sundays are my day of rest, so I wasn't over in Garland (the gun show is next week).

However, a million-odd Texas rednecks are kicking themselves right now...

My prep for future such events: two extra mags of .45 ACP instead of just one.

Rodger,
If / when a winner of the Prophet Mohammed art contest is declared, will you post it?

It isn't even a disrespectful drawing, although the artist made Mo look too much like Wolverine from the X-Men IMHO. Perhaps the artist being a former muslim had a little to do with it too?
