Out to Luntz

AHEM

Yep......Cruz was the first but Trump had a better microphone.

Agreed. Before Trump, Cruz was the more genteel in your face Senator from TX. And I still like him. After that (1st) debate Trump came out on top despite the best efforts of Fox News and the GOP to give him a pair of shiners. That phony voter follow-up Frank Luntz held was worse than rehearsed. The blue blood GOP business as usual need look no further than the nearest mirror to understand voter revolt against the party and Trump's popularity.

When the Republican Party goes the way of the Whigs, Trump as the first presidential candidate of the new conservative party should establish a "no crying in public" rule. Anybody caught crying in public is immediately expelled from the party and will not be hired as a consultant.

In the above photo, poor Luntzer looks like he's about to cry. He's probably thinking of the lean times ahead for he and his ilk, having been exposed as a 'pollster for hire'. My schadenfreude meter just pegged in the red.

The words Trump and conservative in the same sentence? Y'all need to look up what he supported before he changed his mind on everything. Hint, pro abortion, open borders, higher taxes...

FishStyx said...

Chris in NC has the right of it.
While I do enjoy and commend "The Donald" for making both parties heads explode, I see him treating this presidential run as it looks like he treats everything else in his life....
...just another contest to be won and pull down as much personal attention as he can.
The man, by past example, is no conservative (never has been) and is just saying what needs to be said to win this particular race.
Will I vote for him against any of the possible Democrats? MOST CERTAINLY...but he is no conservative.
Unfortunately the ACTUAL conservatives apparently have ZERO clue as to how to market themselves and actually, you know...win.

Chris in NC said...

And FishStyx, that is the fun of this. He is really giving everyone fits. If I believed for a second that he was sincere about what he is saying, I'd stump, donate and everything for him.

We have a couple conservatives that are good. Cruz handed some lib moron actress her head when she debated him a couple days ago. If he gets the nomination, he'll be strong. Plus with the name Cruz, he'll splinter the hispanics in a way that Bush tried and failed to do.

Firoina may not be as conservative as we'd like on some things but again, she can debate and knows how to speak. If not for Trump, she'd probably be getting a lot more traction.

Will I vote for Trump against the dem? Hell yes. But I will go in knowing that I'm not going to get anything I want and then hope to be surprised.

I find a lot of similarities 'tween John Hancock and Trump. While Trump is moving more right, the Establishment is moving more left. Trump is just leapfrogging all other politicians stuck in their canned speech mode. Anyone looking for perfection in any candidate will never find it.

No, Fishstyx, Chris in NC does not have the right of it. Just remember, Ronald Reagan was a liberal before having his Road to Damascus conversion. Trump has explained that the same thing has happened to him, that he has outgrown his previous positions. Is it true? I don't know. I want to believe, so maybe I have scales on my eyes. But Trump has yet to say anything that might be considered a lie, so I'm going to believe him until he gives me a reason not to do so.

But you are right about the current crop of candidates not knowing how to market themselves. They're going to have to learn over the next 8 months if they don't want to be torn apart by the lib media before the conventions even start.

"I didn't leave the democrat party, the democrat party left me" - Reagan.

If you can show me the pro-abortion Reagan or the gun control Reagan or the higher taxes Reagan, then I'l believe you. Reagan had most of his core beliefs set. They didn't change. The party switch was due to the increasing hostility towards his beliefs in the democrat party.

Trump's so called conversion happened this year. It may be genuine. I can't judge that yet. But I'm getting shades of Obama telling everyone what they wanted to hear and the Limbaugh parody "if you believe that obama believes what you believe, vote obama" type strategy. I could be wrong. Hell, I hope I'm wrong. I just don't see it yet.

All that RINO crap is from Papa Arbusto, you know, the yellow belly scum bush that jumped out of a good TBF Avenger in WW II when a bug bit him in the ass, leaving his two crewmen to a certain death(How'd you like to see your pilot parachute out?) And it's been lie, lie, lie like a Clinton the rest of his life...even as he vomited on Japan's prime minister's lap like a yellow belly does(blamed the food, not the fact he was scared sick)...
And papa shrub and his fat Barbara were behind all the republican backstabbings of record, from sabotaging McCain's run to Sarah Palin's political assassination...
http://tarpley.net/online-books/george-bush-the-unauthorized-biography/chapter-6-bush-in-world-war-ii/
The tail gunner of the plane 100 feet ahead of papa bush:
"Mierzejewki, who is also a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross, told the New York Post that he saw “a puff of smoke” come out of Bush’s plane and quickly dissipate. He asserted that after that there was no more smoke visible, that Bush’s “plane was never on fire” and that “no smoke came out of his cockpit when he opened his canopy to bail out.” Mierzejewski stated that only one man ever got out of the Barbara II, and that was Bush himself. “I was hoping I would see some other parachutes. I never did. I saw the plane go down. I knew the guys were still in it. It was a helpless feeling.”

Mierzejewski has long been troubled by the notion that Bush’s decision to parachute from his damaged aircraft might have cost the lives of Radioman second class John Delaney, a close friend of Mierzejewksy, as well as gunner Lt. Junior Grade William White. ‘I think [Bush] could have saved those lives, if they were alive. I don’t know that they were, but at least they had a chance if he had attempted a water landing,'” Mierzejewski told the New York Post.

Former executive officer Legare Hole summed up the question for the New York Post reporters as follows: “If the plane is on fire, it hastens your decision to bail out. If it is not on fire, you make a water landing.” The point is that a water landing held out more hope for all members of the crew. The Avenger had been designed to float for approximately two minutes, giving the tailgunner enough time to inflate a raft and giving everyone an extra margin of time to get free of the plane before it sank. Bush had carried out a water landing back in June when his plane had lost oil pressure."

Whoa! I must admit I've never heard this. I do NOT know what to say...

Oh, come on! You do know that as governor of California in '67, Reagan signed the Therapeutic Abortion Act, right? Reagan didn't sign the bill to purposely increase abortions, true, and Reagan became solidly pro-life as a consequence. But the unintended consequences of this signing is that abortions rose from a few hundred per year to an annual average of 100,000 per year while he was governor. So not pro-abortion, but that is what his action created.

Ditto for raising taxes. Except Reagan raised taxes while President. Again, not pro-taxes, but that is the result of his action.

Tom Smith is right. Liberalism in the 50's and 60's is radically different from the liberalism of today. Back then, liberals used to actually love this country. And there was some fiscal responsibility. (Like I said, radically different from the liberals of today.) Hell, even the liberal icon JFK wouldn't even be considered as a potential candidate for President in today's Demoncraptic Party.

Look, Trump isn't my first choice for President. But I sure do like the way he is defying the Establishment and giving those idiots fits. I like how he is drawing the attention of the low-information voters to the Republican Party. Maybe some of the more deserving candidates will attract their attention and draw them in.

In 2012, I was writing for Pundit Press. Here is what I wrote in the days after Election Day. The gist of it was, a good candidate creates separation between themselves and the other candidates by using bold talk and aggressive action, and stands out in the public's mind. And that, I think, is what Trump is doing. Will he succeed? Beats me. But maybe he will inspire the other candidates to break out of their colorless shells and break this b---- wide open. Damn the torpedoes and full speed ahead!

*ahem* Sorry. That story always fires me up.

Anyway, my point is, I think Trump is behaving the way he is to set himself apart from the pack. By loudly articulating his beliefs, he is separating himself from the pack. And I think he is articulating his beliefs. I heard Limbaugh today say pretty much the same thing: he doesn't stutter or have to work off of a TelePrompter in order to speak. And that is one of the things that leads me to believe that he is being sincere in his positions.

Sure loved the way the Donald first expelled then dragged that Univision snake Ramos back in to beat him up and tear him to shreds...Compare to Sanders the Berniac's surrender to two of his own maniacal fans who were browbeating the gutless weasel...the two loonies even shut down the whole meeting!
Really remind you of the surrender monkey Barry Hussein in the White House bowing to every autocrats on the planet.

Read your post Kaptain Krude. Very well written. Thatcher was awesome. I didn't know that about Reagan. Thanks for the education. :)

It would be nice if Trump believed the things he says and would govern accordingly. But it is better for someone to say the things Americans want to hear, even insincerely, to demonstrate the support those ideas have, than to kill the ideas by never saying them. Every politician will be mouthing Trump platform ideas. Getting the other side to agree with your principles is a major step.

Wabano, I've flown quite a few hours with a former "turkey" pilot and we have polished off many scotches afterwards. He claims that old tub was all wing. He told me that almost no one ever died from a water landing, once you jettisoned the stores it became a J3 Cub and would float down nice and gentle with full flaps and plunk down nose up at 70 MPH. I do know its only bad habit was it's resistance to sticking to the ground, where a good cross wind gust would ground loop you before you got the tail stuck down. I also know that the ocean off the coast of Ft. Lauderdale is littered with TBM's that ditched and in almost every case the crew got out. It was almost a right of passage. It's a very interesting thing you have posed here. -Anymouse

I've been as thrilled as anybody with Trump poking his thumbs in the eyes of the establishment pols. But I may have just heard his shark-jumping moment, when Glenn Beck played Trump fielding questions about his "religiosity", and Trump's remarks pegged the needle on my BS detector 'way into the red zone.

I flew the polish camels in New Brunswick alongside the TBM Avenger on budworm spray and it is not so forgiving when the tired old unreliable Wright conked out and they had to land in the brush...Of course, built like a tank, the plane would stay in one piece, but under shock, the pilot was not always able to stagger out before it caught fire and they got burned. Of course, nobody wore a parachute(no point at a 100 feet) and no chance papa arbusto would fly one of those...But one has to give credit to his son Dubya for flying that death trap the Convair F-102 Delta Dagger...Man, there is even a flying boat version of the suicide ship!

I believe there is a SeaDart outside the EAA Museum at Lakeland Fl. Have used it's shade on many an airshow day. You are right about 43, people ripped him about being in a flight suit in that S3, "well he didn't fly that thing"..... Man he flew a lot hotter plane than that lib bitch. I believe that Dagger had the first zero zero seats. Something close to my heart.-Anymouse

A friend of mine, Norm Ronaasen, jumped out of a F-102 a 100 feet from the ground on approach in Rammstein, I believe.(his engine having exploded) He barely cleared the fireball...Then he rolled his parachute and walked out, just to be arrested as a looter by airport security!
He died later in the first crash of a Canadair Challenger, holding the plane level so the engineer and the co-pilot could jump out of the tail end baggage compartment...they made it, he did not...a true hero! He was one of these "million dollars" test pilots like Chuck Yeager.

Thank you, Chris in NC. Maggie is my second-favorite Brit, after Winston Churchill, of course. I urge you to pick up that book I mentioned in my post. It's by Robert Greene, and it is titled The 33 Strategies of War. I would love to be a speaker at the Republican Convention and just read a story like that straight out of the book.
