NBC? BFD. We've been saying the Repubs should stay away from the aplphabets for several election cycles now, and they haven't. There's a reason we tag them with "The Stupid Party".

I don't understand why they haven't gone to a venue like Liberty University, for example, and told networks they can televise if they wish, but the moderators will be chosen by the Repubs, and will not be TV talking heads trying to insert themselves into the debate to make a rep for themselves.
Moderators should be almost invisible, except when needed to enforce the rules, like good sports referees.

If the networks refuse to cover a debate under those conditions, hire an independent production company to record the whole thing and put it on Youtube.

I'd like to see the ten candidates drop the RNC for now. Screw the big donors, talking heads and superpacs. They all need more than a shot across the bow. More like a 16" shell to the bridge will do.

I think the word the RNC used was "suspending" their relationship with NBC. NBC will make a few "promises" and they will all be buddies again. Stupid party indeed.

Still, there's a time to set a marker. In 1991 60 Minutes did their first and last honest report on the Clintons (Hillary's Cattle-gate). The Clintons were so pissed that they embargoed appearance by any cabinet member on CBS. It wasn't long before Dan Rather gushed “If we could be one-hundredth as great as you and Hillary Rodham Clinton have been in the White House, we’d take it right now and walk away winners. . . . " 60 Minutes never again investigated the Clintons until after he was impeached. Lesson learned.

On a side note: Your Marilyn Monroe reference reminded me to recommend "Killing Reagan" by Bill O'Reilly. Just finished it, and while it makes several references to Marilyn, there is so much more well-researched info on the personalities of that time in our history. Excellent read.... while all were good, this is the best (in my estimation) in the "Killing" series

And yet your picture there is of a smooth as a baby's bum, so I guess they really haven't grown anything yet. But hey, they took the shav'n without bleeding. ;)

Rodger, Steven Hayward writes at "Power Line" that O'Reilly's book is "Riddled with factual errors."
His article is a good read.

If the Republican candidates can't handle the liberal press during the debates, how are they going to handle them when in office?
