"The MSM Rule of Inverse Electoral Correlation:
The closer the presidential race gets, the louder the MSM declares that it’s over. And all this comes even as Clinton has had a terrible week—arguably her worst week ever, as the billowing smoke of financial scandal clouds herself and her family."

Gary Shandling is the Jewiest Jew in Hollywood history. He has never been actually funny, even once. Self deprecating and pathetic, he was expected to pass for funny light hearted middle class humor; IF you were a Jew in Sherman Oaks, in 1988. Gary was not only a silver spooned train wreck, he was an over reach of the Hollywood Jew media mogul, that would dress the entire guitar metal era in spandex until it fled to Seattle, and hid itself in flannel.

It took about four years for the Jew-mogul to tire of grunge, until it moved to Nashville and went country. And as Mr. Jackson observed "..now I don't believe in money, but a man could make him a killin, cause some of this stuff ain't much different than Dillon." -Anymouse
Gee, I thunked both "It's Garry Shandling's Show " and "The Larry Sanders Show, " especially the latter, were genius . No accounting for taste, but I signed my name. 😎

Ahem,....a "10" to Rodger.
Thanks nips
Thanks for this! The opening alone was such a great cast of comedians and the funeral for Jerry's stepping away was genius. Better to leave on a high note than with a thud, eh? Of course you're right about Gary Shandling's two shows, not to mention, there was a time that Johnny Carson considered passing the mantel of The Tonight Show to Shandling. Besides, I always think of Richard Lewis when it comes to the pathetic and self-deprecating black humor of comedy. Right?

BTW, thank goodness for Seinfeld's Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee to keep in touch with his humor. His Vegas show is too pricey for us. Plus, I really hate Las Vegas.

Very few comedians are actually funny, and when they are, it doesn't last long because their schtick becomes dated or old. Even Larry the Cable Guy is boring today, although when he first started, he was wonderful. Ron White still amuses, although he's running out of material, and Jeff Foxworthy was never that funny to begin with -- redneck Seinfeld -- but at least he's not annoying, unlike the newer crowd.

I can't tell how many "new" comedians' shows I've watched, and tuned out after ten minutes. And NOT ONE female comedian is funny anymore.

God, I miss Foster Brooks...
By the way, when modern comedy is analyzed in later years, the murderer of comedy will be identified: HBO.

Nobody can be funny for an hour -- twnty minutes is about the limit -- and the endless chain of hourlong "comedy specials" has sucked the life out of comedy.
"Nobody can be funny for an hour"? Gimme a break!
I can name any number of standups who can do an hour or more; the first names that come to mind (besides Seinfeld) are Jackie Mason, Joan Rivers and Bill Cosby. Of course, there was the comic genius George Carlin, but he grew far too angry.

But there are plenty of others: Sam Kinison, Chris Rock, Bob Newhart, Nichols and May, Jonathan Winters…
And, lesser-known but a personal fave: Rob Bartlett.
I'll forever be indebted to Sam Kinison for teaching me a vast new use of the alphabet...
Sheesh! How could I list Nichols and May without also mentioning Stiller and Meara and Bob & Ray?

Although I suppose that, strictly speaking, that's sketch comedy, rather than pure, free-flowing standup as in the Seinfeld video. Still, they could all easily hold a live audience and keep 'em amused for an hour or more.
