Merry Christmas to you and yours Rodger. I'm up here enjoying the heat in southern Maryland with the northern grand kids. I'll be heading back to Florida in a couple of days for some cooler weather.

Merry Christmas to Rodger and all that dwell here. It's 19 degrees here in Idaho Falls at 12:30 PM and going down to -8 tonight. Gotta get outside and fire up the snow blower now.

Beethoven's piece was used for our Junior High School (JHS 104) song
[Skoonj, 'Remember this?]:

We salute thee Blue and Gold
In our hearts we'll always hold
Our devotion strong and true
One-Oh-Four we honor you!

Those of us in Hans Rittermann's homeroom sang it like this:
We salute you Red and Black
At your head we'll always hack
Teachers may think we are nuts
Rittermann, we hate your guts!

(After more than 50 yrs., I can still remember this stuff!)

Stu, yes I do remember the JHS 104 song. I sang it enough, and played it enough back then. You see, at graduation I was in the school orchestra. At the back. I had a tube, or upright (E flat) bass. Play that enough in rehearsal, and other words naturally come to you. Unfortunately, I still can't write a damned one of them. I wasn't even about to say them loud enough that Miss O'Reilly, head of the graduation ceremony and also my math teacher, could hear. She was already in a fine mood since the day before graduation the US Supreme Court ruled against prayer in public school. She had a temper, that one, and went ahead with the scheduled prayer anyway. I think that was the same year you played Lt. Cable in the South Pacific play they put on.
