DougM mentioned a pile of cigarette ash. My first impression was that it was a delicate lace handkerchief that had fallen on the floor. After considering the context of the picture I decided it was a pile of cocaine. Nope, just cigarette ash. Considering all the hours Mona spent sitting for that portrait, the girl needed a break. Especially with her bartender on vacation.
