cinema à la carte

In "The Judge," Robert Downey Jr. stars as big city lawyer Hank Palmer, who returns to his childhood home where his estranged father, the town's judge (Robert Duvall), is suspected of murder. He sets out to discover the truth and along the way reconnects with the family he walked away from years before.
We almost skipped this movie because of the 47% Tomatometer "thoroughly clichedscore, the bastids!  This is a great movie, maybe Downy's best acting ever.  Throw in Billy Bob and Duval4½ stars.

You're welcome

Oh,oh, I seen that movie before. Loved it! What a great story it told. Screw them critic types, right?

Critic's opinions seem to be skewed towards childish fantasy, liberal logic, and/or implausibly ridiculous sex and/or violence.
