Blink of an eye ...

There are a dozen dots here ...

But your brain can't process them in one lump.

So how in hell, then, are we to keep track of media coverups; criminal acts by Obama and Hillary; Climate lies; lies about Trump; updates to Win10 and iPad; stuff I'm supposed to get at the store ....  Tell me!

WHY does the pattern behave like that?

Pls point us to the science behind the effect.

Science sez: Reality is too much for the human mind to process in real time. We have more senses than we can handle. So our minds form a multi-dimensional perception based on the simplest or most predominant patterns. That is the basis of all optical illusions.

The creator of this optical illusion accentuated the process by balancing the black and white areas in the dots to the grey value of the grid lines. The greatest fine art example of this trick is Normal Rockwell's The Connoisseur.

OK Rog, perhaps you or one of your readers will explain the puzzle to me. I saw nothing more than a geometrical pattern with 12 dots, 4 on each of the top, middle and bottom rows all equally spaced and they did not change.

It's different when you have 6 eyes.

OK, since I'm just gonna' be ridiculed for my perceptiveness I'll just S-T-U-F-U and leave the "Learned ones" in charge - I still don't get the problem.

Ron,

There's a guy I work with who can see 'test' patterns immediately, while it take most people several seconds to see.

Irritates the hell out of me when he pulls one up on his phone and I can see them.

Same name as you, too...

Scary thin though, after I sent out my last comment I called my wife to my computer, sat her down and explained what I was gonna' show her. She saw it immediately just like me.

Now I don't know whether to think, "great minds think alike" or to wish I could call Rod Serling for an explanation.

What's that funny music? Dah-dee-dah-dah, Dah-dee-dah-dah! OH!

There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity.
It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge.
This is the dimension of imagination.
It is an area which we call . . . the Twilight Zone.
