“America’s
Sheriff” Joe Arpaio was found guilty Monday of misdemeanor criminal
contempt without the benefit of a jury of his peers. The guilty ruling,
by Bill Clinton-appointed U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton, is the
latest chapter of a nearly decade-long saga of legal proceedings
against Sheriff Joe initiated by leftist groups opposed to his
aggressive policing of illegal aliens. The 85-year-old Arpaio now faces
up to six months in jail.
The
charges against Arpaio stem from a civil rights suit demanding he cease
“racial profiling” in his Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office’s
immigration enforcement operations. After a federal judge issued an
order demanding certain practices, Arpaio was charged with contempt for
continuing to try to enforce the law as he saw fit.
Because
Arpaio was charged only with a misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of
six-months in jail, the U.S. Constitution does not guarantee him a
right to trial by a jury of his peers. Arpaio and his attorneys
repeatedly petitioned for a jury, only to be denied by Judge Bolton in
March and again in May. Sources familiar with the proceedings have told
Breitbart News the decision to charge only the misdemeanor was likely a
ploy by federal prosecutors to avoid a jury trial in the community
where Arpaio served as sheriff for more than 20 years

You want terrorism? Terrorism is when the government sets itself against you for doing your job ND ENFORCING Federal law. It's when charges against you are jiggled and twisted in order to get you convicted just to throw a taint on you. Appaio should have been allowed a jury trial; though he was charged with a misdemeanor he was facing jail time. The judge involved in this matter should have recused when question after question were raised as to impartiality. He was deprived of his job when his trial was set to coincide with the 2016 elections.
Simple fact: Joe Arpaio, age 85, will not be jailed on a MISDEMEANOR. As a law officer, especially as a County Sherriff, what jail would you put him in and be able to ensure his safety? When the appeals come, and they will, how long do you suppose it will be before this sham is overturned and he is exonerated?

I'd love to see Sheriff Joe win this on a Appeal and have it thrown out, but I'll take a Pardon. Just so the Judge gets bitch slapped.
How can any Judge order someone to "not do their job" that they were elected/appointed too and took a Oath of Office for? I felt the same way about obama telling the Border Patrol not to do their jobs. The BP Union should've fought it and got a restraining order on it, as it dragged out in Court.

Where's Trumps killer instincts? He should fire the US attorney who brought the case and ask the House to impeach the judge.

I'm afraid that tweet is phony. It's over 140 characters and there's no datestamp.
It should be true though! I have a lot of faith in President Trump, and the dust isn't settled on this battle, so it may happen yet.
That this "judge" should be removed with prejudice goes without saying; but I'll say it anyway. Removed and terminated from her position. I'd like to see her horsewhipped across the town square as well, but then I'm old-fashioned that way. - 8/3/17, 11:35 AM
