Now, she is most known for having controversial opinions when it comes to race. She was one of the few stars who defended Paula Deen, the celebrity chef who admitted in court that she had said the N-word in the past. Dash tweeted her support to Deen, “Only God can judge your heart BTW my daughter loves your show (only way she can get me to cook).” Dash also spoke out against the existence of BET and called Jesse Williams a “plantation slave” after he gave a powerful speech accepting the BET Humanitarian Award. “You’ve just seen the perfect example of a HOLLYWOOD plantation slave! Sorry, Mr. Williams,” she said. “But the fact that you were standing on that stage at THOSE awards tells people you really don’t know what your talking about. Just spewing hate and anger.” Dash’s comments got her a contributor spot on Fox News, but she was later fired. Her terrible comments have definitely made Hollywood distance itself from her, and turned her into the butt of a joke at the Oscars in 2016.
