Earth's a 8000mi-dia spinning ball of gravity, dirt, rock, water, and molten rock with a spinning liquid-iron core; covered in a violently moving atmosphere; pounded by man and machine; and bombarded by particles from a huge thermonuclear gas ball 24/365.
Yeah, I'll give the ol' girl some latitude for a few quirks and mysteries.

Personally, I chalk it up to tinnitus.
