Aren't Rock Island Armory's 1911s made by Armscor in the Philippines? Is this new offering similar in provenance? In our own pecking order of where our firearms are made (starting with the USA and Austria), the Philippines is pretty far down the list.

From Wikipedia: The Rock Island Armory 1911 series is a product line of single-action recoil operated semi-automatic pistols. They are designed and manufactured by Armscor in Marikina, Philippines, and distributed in the United States by Armscor USA, located in Pahrump, Nevada.

They also make excellent ammunition, including the very innovative TCM.
They have their US distribution in Pahrump, and they may be getting ready to expand the Pahrump facility to include repair, and eventually more. They were getting ready to begin manufacturing there, though I'm not sure what they will be making. Our SHOT Show stay was shortened this year, so we were unable to make the 60 mile trip from Las Vegas to Pahrump.
