Fountainhead Revisited

A film, idea, and concept that most people today have never heard of.

Very similar to the speech Hank Rearden gave in Atlas Shrugged.

One of my all time favorite movie moments. Can't imagine ever seeing anything like it in a contemporary flick.

Guv'ner Cuomo needs to be lashed to a folding steel chair and made to listen to this.

'Course 'twouldn't hurt SanFranFeces Nan, Bernie "Do As I Say, Not As I Do" Sanders, Alexandra Occluded-Cortex, Michael "Where Are The Donuts!" Moore and a host of others, too.

love her philosophy but dang, that was a long boring read. Atlas Shrugged was significantly better as was We the Living and Anthem. Fountainhead just dragged on and on...

“Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.

This is known as "bad luck.”

Whatever advances the rest of us make that are then shared with the world's poor merely cause them to breed at a higher rate, resulting in more poor people. Let's face the music: more than 3 billion humans live on this planet at a level barely higher than wild animals. And it's been that way since forever, except that there used to be a lot less of them. And that's entirely our fault for trying to help them.

Beyond The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged, I have read every one of Ayn Rand's
books. Some of her best material is in the books of essays and columns she wrote
in her lifetime. My DVD library includes The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged.
I also have We The Living in Italian with English subtitles starring Alida Valli.

I am a small l libertarian, conservative, and objectivist. I am a Republican only
because the party is closer to my ideology than any other political party in
America. Rand understood that without free markets, the world descends into a
collectivist hell. I am a second amendment purist, but I understand that without
private property rights, no other rights can exist. I am also a free trade purist,
but I understand that President Trump's tariff threats are nothing more than bargaining
chips in a larger game.

This woman created a socio-economic-political philosophy before she hit 20. She fled
the Soviet Union at age 17 knowing that if the reds or the whites won, there would
be a collectivist bloodbath. One of her best lines was about altruism. Voluntary
altruism is fine, but forced altruism would lead to disaster. The modern Democrat
party has become the world champion of forced altruism. It is nothing more than
a con game designed to increase the power of the state!
