Linda Greenhouse, who covered the Supreme Court for the Times from 1978 until 2008, also does not like the idea that the Constitution might trump her policy preferences. In an op-ed piece published today, she pooh-poohs the "outlandish" notion that federal courts are treating the Second Amendment as a "second-class right," saying that concern is a right-wing fantasy dreamed up by Justice Clarence Thomas and echoed by likeminded extremists.
  But, wait.  There's more ..
House Democrats plan to introduce a bill criminalizing
private gun sales on Tuesday of next week.

The legislation will be introduced by Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Rep. Mike Thompson (D-CA), and gun control proponent Gabby Giffords.

Tuesday will be the eighth anniversary of the day on which Giffords was shot by Jared Loughner.

Not my guns. Not my ammunition. Not now. Not ever.

Try to outlaw/confiscate/register/certify/"aw, c'mon, we just wanna look at it" any guns, you're going to run up against old men like me who have lived full lives and learned how to do bad things. We can hold the line. We have nothing left to lose.

    How about you?

Did Gabby mention Jared Loughner was a registered Democrat that had passed the background check for his firearm?

The older I get, the less of a punishment prison time seems.

If I owned a firearm I’d be outraged.

I respect your right NOT to own a firearm, especially if you don’t hunt or have other extenuating circumstances (I didn’t have any until the gun phobic wife became an ex and the special needs (behavioral issues) child no longer lived at home). That said - there may come a day when you wish you had one - when you don’t. I pray that day never comes.

Any group or individual trying to disarm individual citizens (the Militia) of the United States of America is, in fact, trying to overthrow the U.S. Constitution.

Since the Congress has the power to call forth the Militia, as stated in Article 1, Section 8, paragraphs 15 & 16 and since the President, as the Commander in Chief has the power (Article 2, Section 2) to call the Militia into the actual service of the United States—the Militia must exist—either within the States or with “We the People”.

Article 1, Section 8, paragraph 15, states: the reasons; Congress is to provide for calling forth the Militia; 1st, to execute the Laws of the Union, 2d, to suppress Insurrections and 3rd, to repel Invasions. The reason for Paragraph 16 is to provide for organizing, ARMING, and disciplining, the Militia….reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of Officers, and the Authority of training the
    Militia….

Since Congress has not provided for the organizing, ARMING, and disciplining the Militia, and since most States do not have an Organized Militia, the duty of un-organized Militia is reserved to “ We the People”. This is in accordance with the Tenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

The National Guard is not the Militia (as constitutionally authorized) otherwise its only duties would be; to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections or repel Invasions. Instead, it has been conscripted by the federal government and used as a Standing Army with our warriors, fighting and dying in foreign wars, siphoned away from the various States— but not protecting our Republic.

My big concern is: where are our Organized State Militias?

The solution: The Governors of each State need to establish the Militia(s) from previously trained and sworn, well vetted, un-organized Militias, retired LEOs and veterans until the National Guard can be retuned to the respective States to be disbanded and reformed into the Organized State(s) Militias—with all assets retained with the Militia(s). Then the President should, if necessary, call forth the Militia(s) for duty and put a stop to groups and individuals trying to disarm us—thereby overthrowing our Constitutional Republic.
