Some comments ...

These comments after the Wikileaks Dump esoterica caught (obviously) my attention.

Especially comments by homo and an atheist Silence Dogood.  He  reminds me of so many ex-Catholic friends and acquaintance's; intelligent and passionate, but who've bought into the the "New Age"  movement's I'm OK, You're Okay alternative to God.  So much easier.  They won't engage with me anymore,  because I'm crazy as fuck religious.

Silence Dogood
I'm a registered democrat (I'm a homo and an atheist) and I'm so disgusted with my party right now. It used to be so much simpler when I could just hate on the rich 1%ers and the insane evangelicals. Now I have to hold my nose at the stench of the corruption coming from the Democratic Party.[...]

And yes, the Republican "establishment" is undeniably the party of rich, self-righteous old white men as well as the socio-economic gambit of crazy-as-fuck religious people who will throw their money at the Party because "Jesus". [...]

A walk in Hell

stuff I think about

JMJ

This is the testimony of college professor and atheist Howard Storm who while on vacation in Paris France had a perforation in his stomach and died. He had a NDE and when he died he was surrounded by demons jinns who tortured him, but suddenly remembered a prayer was saved and was revived. After seeing hell and jinn he changed.

On June 1, 1985, at the age of 38, Howard Storm, a Professor of Art at Northern Kentucky University, had a near-death experience due to a perforation of the stomach and his life was forever changed he lives to tell his story.

Here's Part Two

This particularly resonates with me because my wife, over years of working as an RN in Hospice, Critical Care, and surgical wards, witnessed quite a few incidents along these lines.  Some are still so terrifying that she has difficuly relating them; i.e. One of her patients, a nice man, near death, suddenly jumped out of his bed.  The look on his face was hideous, and he "hissed," then made nightmarish guttural noises before throwing his arms in the air, swatting away, yelling "OKAY I'M COMING!" And dropped dead.

Jim's Corpse

stuff I think about

Time and Space

Here's a story that Sister Edna, my 2nd grade teacher at St Francis Borgia, told us (to the best of my recollection).

One Sunday afternoon, Jim was struck dead in his basement workshop.  Heart attack.  At the Pearly Gates he was remanded to purgatory for one year, in penance for various venial sins.  Having had a taste of what it would be like to be in the presence of God, Jim was crushed beyond words at being  denied HIS glory for so long.  If only he had gone to confession yesterday!  Too late now.

Now, after what was certainly a period of 100 years, or more (certainly more than double the life he had lived on Earth) had passed, Jim was granted an appeal.  When he complained to St. Peter that a huge error had been made, St. Peter let Jim to see what was happening, in real time, back on Earth.  His wife Betty was just now standing over his body lying on his work shop floor.  She was sobbing while a rescue squad placed his corpse on a gurney.

So it was that we were introduced to time and space at a tender age.  I remember that when people attack the Genesis creation narrative.

"... and please don't say that God existed before the Big Bang ..."

I'm not trying to start any flame wars, but more and more this is stuff I think about .... Here someone asks Jesuit Father Mitch Pacwa ....

If space and time started at the  time of the Big Bang, say 14 billion years ago, and time did not exist before that, we must assume that the creation of the universe  and of God were contemporaneous events, rather than the reverse ....
