Claim that asbestos is killing thousands of veterans ...

Crap!
''We fought for our country, now it's time for congress [you] to fight for us."
Alright Ernie!  What can we do for you?
''Today many veterans are sick because they were exposed to asbestos ...''
How is that Ernie?  Was it the asbestos in bombs you dropped on them Viet Congs (or were you shoveling shit in Arkansas) ??
'' and the legal system isn't helping ... ''
Dagnabbit, Ernie, it sounds to me like you're shilling for greedy, lying bastard ATLA.  What? Did the  Peter Angelos  ilk not distribute their winnings?  Does Angelos  need another sports franchise?  Are Maryland lawmakers demanding too much ''lunch money'' from him?  You do know that  90% of the ''asbestos'' argument was manufactured, don't you Ernie?  Still, I want to know why the hell you're playing the "Purple Heart'' card for tort boys [trust me, trial lawyers are the engine running this thing]?  Did we drop "Agent A" on Asian jungles? Are you a professional shill?
'' ... the trust fund is payed for by companies, no taxpayer dollars.''
You idiot.  I'm calling the Senate to demand tort reform limiting lawyer awards to $6. And I want your medals back Ernie.

I had seen this commercial before, but this morning I started wondering just what the other side of this situation was, and why someone was spending a significant amount of money on the ads. Why is it so critical to pass this legislation, and what happens if it doesn't pass? My guess that lawyers were somehow more involved than they should be seems to have been validated, though.

I'm always suspicious about commercials or ads for specific legislation, especially on relatively obscure matters.

More to the point, I cannot find any instance where veterans are singled out for a specific asbestos grievance. I find this appeal particularly disgusting. And the claim that a levy against corporations is not a tax burden is liberal mischief to its core. Bang bang bang.

Our barracks at Ft Bragg still had asbestos insulation in them during the early 90s. They started removing it after I had lived in them for about year and a half. If I get lung cancer, I'm gonna SUE!!! (as I'm lighting up a Marlboro and pressing the "Publish" button)

What's going on now? Earlier today, I'm almost sure I heard Teddy Kennedy mention asbestos.
Now some Vet?
This issue has been going on for 25 years. There are few people left in this country with a legitimate claim concerning asbestos. The scientists (me) already proved that it was never even close to the danger the lawyers made it out to be.
Tort Reform, Rodger. We need it, and now. Or a DDT (overblown), greenhouse gas (CO2, ditto), asbestos (see above), and THC (yup) sandwich to all the lawyers. I smoke Basic light 100s, in a box, but I'll light up one now, as I publish.

That's nothing (almost). Have you seen the ads for second hand asbestos litigation by James Sokolove? Sheesh.
